I went to Senator Dave Syverson's party this Friday, where he announced he's running for reelection. I've been helping his campaign for a good number of years now, so this wasn't a new thing for me. However, I was out of the loop on this one. Rick Nielsen, the lead guitarist of "Cheap Trick" decided to show up and say a few words in support of the Senator. I happened to get a few moments of his time to pose for a quick picture as he was leaving. He's an incredibly nice guy. Real friendly and entertaining, even without a guitar. I spent the rest of the party showing all my friends there. It's awesome to actually meet such a legend. If you couldn't tell, I love "Cheap Trick" ^^

Randy,   great photo but just who are we looking at ???  In other words...which which is which.
Are you in this photo?  And if so are you on the left or right??
Is this the senator or Rick Nielsen from Cheap Trick?

Just curious.  Good that you had a good time.

BTW, is there any significance with the  sign being held upside down??

I'm in the Carhartt on the left, and Rick Nielson is on the right holding the sign. He's known for his jokes so I'd think hes holding the sign like that for a laugh. Here's a good video of him playing, hes the one with 3 guitars in the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdwMSONE-aw&feature=related

Randy, just a short storey for you.   A friend that I have known since high school plays in band of  a famous country singer and has for many years.   On one of my trips to Las Vegas, I saw that they had a show in Vegas.    I met some people at the hotel casino where they were playing and told them one of the people in the band was a friend of mine.  They thought I was BSing them.   Well I sent  a note to my friend and he just about fell over.  Spent some time with him and caught up on some stuff and all that .   And my associates in Vegas just about  crapped.

That's awesome. I love doing things like that, though I rarely get the chance. Do you remember what band it was he played in? Thanks for sharing :)
