: Slavia 631
: havasufred November 12, 2009, 10:46:00 AM
I have a Slavia 631 in excellent condition, had it for 6 yrs shot very little. The gun is very accurate and well made. This gun is more well made than the newer gun I am wanting to trade for so, if you have a well looked after gamo or crosman etc ... I am looking for a more powerful gun to trade, maybe a big cat or whisper or similar, but newish not dinged and dented, straight trade. 928-230-8713
Regards Fred

Welcome Fred.

That should be a good trade for someone, particularly if the Slavia CZ-631 is in good shape.  Pictures?

TCUPS,

This one looks very nice.  I just bought one from the Yellow and it will be here tomorrow.  I'll compare notes with you but I hear they are really nice shooters.

Gene Curtis turned me on to my first CZ air rifle -- a Slavia CZ 634 in .177.

Two unique features of the CZ air rifles -- a hammer forged, choked steel barrel and a solid lock latch on the breech (see the triangular latch on the underside of the barrel just in front of the barrel breech?). Very accurate medium power springers and very pleasant to shoot.  My CZ-634 outshoots my HW30s easily, somewhere around 730 fps as I recall.  The 631 has a longer barrel and lower velocity -- low 600's -- but both are known for their accuracy.

Thanks again Fred.

Fred,

Now why did you have to go and tell me a CZ 634 exists and it is 100 fps faster?  Geez now I'll be looking for one of those too!  LOL

Now I won't be able to sleep tonight and I can't leave work early so guess I'll be a mess by the time I get home tomorrow.

There are a few folks on the GTA who have experienced the CZ 634 and 631 accuracy issue..:) They are very accurate target shooters. I have both but still have not shot my new CZ631 yet..:( It is still sitting in the rack with the new tag on the trigger..:) But if you want a nice accurate target springer rifle then the CZ is no slouch. They are worth every penny you pay for them for sure.

Shot this 10-shot group at 100 yards in light winds with my CZ-634 and a BSA 2-7X 32mm AO scope  :D

TCUPS, Gene,

My 631 arrived today.  I thought maybe it was broken it was so easy to cock.  But shot over the chrony and it was 625 FPS with Meisterkuglns.  Probably just about right.  The rifle itself looks like it is new.  A bit clunky like the stock was only semi-formed from a 2x4.  The checkering is really branded in.  Not laser or pressed but burned in.  But boy is it smooth.  Got to like light powered springers for accuracy too.  I went to mount a 4x32 scope and found out it isn't a 11mm dovetail.  Luckily I had a BSquare 13mm here.  Perfect!

Here's what she looks like.

Congratulations Andy, great purchase. These CZ's are fantastic target shooters. I am sure you will appreciate the build quality of the CZ. They look very plain but believe me they are built like a tank..:)

"The 631 has a longer barrel and lower velocity"

Have to agree with the velocity but mine isn't any longer then the 634's I've seen.

Looks like someone bobbed the rifle on that one with a chop saw!  Have Roger and Timmy had their hands on it?  As for the squared-off 2x4 feel of the forearm, true enough, I suppose, but there is a good reason for that style of stock, and it certainly doesn't imply "cheap".

Chop saw!!!!!!  Haven't you ever heard of a manufacturer producing variants to expand the market appeal.  Can't believe you aren't aware of the "ranch rifle" version of the 631, very popular out west.

Guess not.  Sorry.  I am from SC, and here in the South, some of our good ol' boys have been know to take a chop saw off the back of their pick up truck and "modify" their own air rifles.   . :o

But it would sure be a major shame to do that to a hammer forged, choked steel barrel like the ones on the CZ's.

Hmmmmmmm.  Point taken.  I guess that is why my version came with both the original and the "Wanted Dead or Alive" length.

Fred's Slavia 631 arrived this morning.  It looks like new!!

Thanks Fred.  Hope you are as happy with the MM-tuned B-26 & scope!  It shipped Tuesday.  Good hunting, sir.
