: Whisper quieter than I thought.

As a post scrip to the "Dead Red three" thread in the Hunting Gate...

FYI

After the Red Squirrel tumbled, I noticed that there was Gray sitting in the top of one of the evergreens, about three feet to the left of where the Red was on a branch of the black walnut at the first shot. The Gray was eating a black walnut which usually takes them about 10-15 minutes.

The angle was such that all three shots at the Red had been only a few feet to the right of the Gray as the Red moved up and away to the top far side of the black walnut.

The girl friend had been watching the entire encounter with the Red from another window and said the Gray never moved, flinched, or stopped eating during the entire time.

Sitting at  my feet watching the Red as I was shooting out the French doors was one of my cats, another sleeping next to the door on a chair. Normally skitterish around sharp noises, they could care less about the shooting.

It's been tough to tell how loud the Whisper actually is with my head right next to the stock.  I guess it's quiter than I thought.

Paul.

down range they are effectively quieter. my .22 makes more noise by impacting the target than it does next to my hear. I rammed mine and is got about 750 shots thru it.

Mine is pretty quiet to Paul. If it wasen't for the spring noise which got a bit more quiet since I tuned the whisper, it would be sort of like an old B-B  gun. If I don't put a .22 whisper in my new stock I think I would try the Gas ram piston so I could shoot heavier pellets for hunting. That would also get rid of the spring noise.

it does, but it is not quieter than a tuned, broken in spring. mine is more like a quick, solid thud. I think people just ignore it due to the fact that it happens quickly and there is no spring noise associated to follow. Is about as loud as punching your open hand with your own fist. then, silence (or the sound a fast ball makes on a catcher's mit as it wacks a squirrel of a tree...) mine groups very well with hobbies (11.9 g) and it shoots them at an average 803 fps. The gas ram is worth every penny. But make sure you get yourself a trigger. That is the best thing your gamo can get. You 'll think you woke up some sniper sense in you or something...lol (nah, is just the trigger...)
