: MM B26-2 Tragedy
: Tim40189 November 18, 2009, 12:39:00 PM
Hey Guys,

I recently purchased a B26-2 from another forum member, Traolach he is a great person and very gracious helpful gentleman.  Back to the problem, in shipping the rifle was damaged by something falling on it.  It was double boxed and great care was taken in packaging, a claim will be filed with the post office for the insured amount.....my question is.  The barrel pivot appears to be where the gun is bent to the left it is a noticable amount of angle, those out here who have done air rifle repair and tuning  can perhaps advise if this type of damage can be repaired?  The gun is beautiful, I want the gun, I NEED THE GUN I'VE GOT TO HAVE THE GUN!!! whew! This toy thing may get me divorced if I don't get some help.  Please let me know if anyone has had a similar type damage repaired or if I'm spinning my wheels and going nowhere with this.  Thanks for any and all input, in this my dark hour.

Tim

(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-surprised.gif)Sorry Tim to hear about your dilema, But the rifle can be repaired, you will need a parts breakdown and replace all of the bent or broken componets. You will need a spring compressor also to open the compression tube where the spring is under tension. Here is link to Xisico for your parts breakdown

See if you can make heads or tail of things, otherwise give a shout and one ofus will help you out further, or you can PM me........Bill(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-cool.gif)

Is the stock shattered?  Must be some heavy stuff that fell on her. Contact MM see what needs to be done.

I like the post office if you ship priority one the time in transit is shorter 2 to 3 days and that makes for less chance of damage done to the artical shipped also I worked for UPS back in the 1960's and when you opened the back of the truck when the stuff was to put on the small delivery trucks It looked as if everything was just poured in just a big hill of messy stuff. And the post office is cheaper I was going to ship a BC to Hawaii it would have cost 18 bucks but with the post office I was able to ship it for 6 bucks I've been doing ebay for about a little over 10 years now and have yet to have any problems with shipping. howie

I don't know about the post office, but most times you put in an insurance claim for replacement, they take the damaged item in return. If you repair it and then have to present it for claim, better take a lot of pictures first.

Sounds like one of the ears on the compression tube was bent to the side? If so, that sounds like you will need a new tube.

that's what i'm afraid of, them wanting the gun.  have contacted MM and he said he could repair it for less than the cost of replacement.  the post office wants proof of replacement cost submitted with the claim and i have none other than what i can get from a web site for a new gun.  this one has been tuned by MM and they probably won't take that into consideration when i file the claim.  this is not the best of situations.  i'll try to do what i can and deal with the fall out as it comes.  i may be better off sending the gun to Mike and just bite the bullet on the post office crap.

Why don't you play their game and give them what they want. They want proof of replacement cost then get the cost of a tuned one from Mike...IMO :d)

How did you pay? If PayPal, you could get a record. USPMO? I keep the customer's copy. Not much, but it does back up your story some. How about the seller? Any correspondence, written or emails? Maybe he can give you some backup?

Great News!!  Folks, I just got an e-mail from the post office and they have approved my claim without requiring me to surrender the rifle.  As soon as I get the check from them  (it's in the mail, oh brother) the rifle is going to Mike at a high rate of speed.  I just attached a copy of the page from a Cobra catalog for the stock rifle and they approved the entire insured claim amount.  I may have just got lucky with this one but I feel like I hit a homerun anyway.  Thanks for everyones advice and support on this.  This is a really great bunch of people to be associated with and all are truly concerned with everyones experience with the sport.  Sorta makes ya proud to be among so many friends. Thanks again and God bless.

Tim
