: The lightest stock, Photos and story.
: Sniperdad69 November 25, 2009, 10:14:53 AM
A week before LASSO, "J" asked me to make him a light stock for his Gargoyle with the 40 inch barrel.
He needed it light enough to shoot at LASSO, 10.5 pounds was the weight limit.
No problem I told him, how heavy is it now?
"17 pounds", LOL.
What!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, you need me to make it under 11pounds? you need to loose over 6 pounds from this?
Yes please.

Those of you that know me, already know that I am nuts, but this was certainly starting to look way past nuts, even for me.

I start cutting into an old BAM26-2 stock that I had laying around, and knew it was light wood.

: More of the story, and photos.

I was getting close to cutting a stock that weight in, under a pound, and feeling good about it, then "J" said, Did I mention that I need this But pad on that, and it weighs 4 ounces.
"HU"

OK, back to the cutting block.
These next photos were when I thought I was done, but I was still over weight at this point.
I will post more soon, I finally got it down to 10 ounces of wood, and a 3 ounce pad,
so well under a pound for a stock to hold a 40inch barrel pushing 700FPE.
How would it hold up for the competition?
Cheers, David.

That truly is a amazing piece of work, with as much weight as you had to take off you still managed to make the stock look cool and functional to boot- you are a exceptionally talented wood worker.
