: Benjamin Katana .22 Revisited
: Gene_SC December 02, 2009, 04:29:04 AM

After recieving my new Benjamin Katana .22 and mounted a new Simmons White Tail Classic 6.5-16-50 MilDot scope I found that pellets where spraying in a 7" patern. Well it seems that there was an issue with scope and mount.

Yesterday I went over to CDT's house for some help on modifying the Kantana with a new R&J standard breech block. Tuns out it would not work because of mounting hole alignment. When I got home I spent an hour replacing the scope and mount with a new Hawk 4-12X44 AO Mil Dot Air Max Scope. I used accushot two piece mounts with this combination. After dialing her in I was shooting one hole groups at 30 yards. Of course the one one was all 10shots touching each other..:) One big hole..:)

That really pleased me and amsatisfied with true accuracy when I do my part..:) As for the BKL cantaleiver mount and Simmons scope I took my Benji Maurader and mounted that combo on it. Did the same thing. Then I change mounts to a set of accushot two piece mounts and every thing worked great. So it was not the new Simmons scope at fault. Then I put a BSA 4-12X 44 AO MilDot scop on the Marauder using the BKL mount and she shot just great..:) So it looks like the BKL mount did not like the Simmons big 50 AO scope. Could of been it was just to heavy for the BKL.

So the moral to my story is that scopes and mounts do not always work best together..:) I have used the BKL mounts on allot of my springer and PCP's before and never run into this issue. The BKL mounts are great mounts and hold up very well even with medium powered springers.

Gene, Amazing how scope mounts can make or break a good gun.  I'm  glad to see your new child is behaving well for you now sounds like you got a good one:) Tony

Glad you had that issue resolved.  Thanks for letting us newbies know of that possibility if an airgun don`t shoot well.

Glad you figured that one out Gene. You probably feel alot better knowing it wasn't the Katana's problem.

Yes I was kinda worried myself but could not get back to her to try and figure out what was the problem.. Glad to be able to post some positive feedback about the Kantana. I love the weight of the stock and the way she shoulders. Very well balanced for me.
