Hi Everybody,
Today I bought the BSA Sportsman HV 0.22 from our local Sportsman's warehouse but it did not come with the owner maual or filling adaptor. Does anybody out there has the owner manual for this rifle that he/she can e-mail me? I did not notice any gauge on it, how do you know where to stop pumping if I'm using a hand pump? Do I need the filling adaptor? This is my 1st PCP, have no experience with them at all and it looks like it will be a while before I can shoot it. Actually, the package included the gun itself, some wrenches, and one or two washers. Any info. about this rifle will be appreciated. I did get it on a discounted price though.

If you can't find one online I will scan mine and send it to you. I believe the link is dead at BSA but Airguns of Airzona might have one or something similiar.

Congrats on your new Sportsman HV Sam. I think you will find that it is a very accurate, deceptively powerful air rifle. I have one and am very satisfied with it.
A few tips. Maximum fill pressure is 232 BAR (3500 PSI). You will need a BSA fill probe. The fill probe is pretty standard for most BSA PCP rifles. The fill probe that fits the Scorpion, Hornet, Lonestar will fit your Sportsman NV. Air Guns of Arizona has them in stock. When fillig the rifle, be sure to cock the sear by pushing in the cocking knob, the large button at the front of the stock, under the reservoir. Cocking the sear when filling allows for an easier, more complete fill. The fill port is located under the knurled cap at the front of the reservoir. I use the gauge on my FX pump for checking fill pressure and have had no problems.
The Sportsman HV uses the BSA Micro Movement cocking system. At the back right side of the receiver is a small release lever for the bolt. Push the button down and it will release the bolt, which will move out of the receiver under spring pressure. The bolt is pushed forward with your thumb to feed a pellet into the barrel chamber. The 10 shot magazine on the HV is the same magazine all BSA multi shot rifles use. AoA has the mags. in stock too. To load the mag., release the bolt and leave it open, release the magazine by pushing forward the mag. release lever which is located at the front left of the receiver. Pull the magazine out from the left. The magazine loads by placing a pellet in the hole at the bottom of the mag. and then rotating the magazine drum one position counterclockwise, repeat till full. Insert the mag., push the mag. release catch forward, push the bolt home to feed a pellet into the barrel chamber. Cock the sear by pushing in the sear button at the front of the stock, release the safety and you are ready to fire.
The sear can be cocked and uncocked, Cock the sear by pushing in the sear cocking button. To uncock the sear, (leaving a pellet in the chamber), Push the sear cocking button in fully and hold it in, pull the trigger fully while holding the sear cocking button in, keep the trigger fully dpressed and slowly release the sear cocking button. The sear is now uncocked, leaving a pellet in the chamber. Cock the sear again and you are ready to fire without having to cycle the bolt.
I hope you enjoy your new rifle. You got a great deal on a very high quality PCP rifle. The Sportsman HV is a great hunting rifle.

Gamo is selling the Sortsman now with a new rifle called the Dynamax .177 Multishot Pre-Charged Pneumatic Gun. It has the Scorpion synthetic stock & is $699.

Hi Sam,
Great rifle untill something goes wrong ( maybe yours will work forever with out a hitch). Should anything go worng oh boy! No parts available, paying postage both ways to AofA ( a couple of times) may not get a thing fixed. It is not a very simple pcp to work on and if you are up to it you will be making your own parts, that is if the problem isnt due to too soft a metal used in the parts that didnt break. How do I know this?
While they work they are good airguns and can be every so quite. If I could find one at that price
"I" would sell it new in the box to someone who thought they really wanted one then buy something I could get parts for.

Thanks a lot to all who replied to my inquiry. Well, I returned the BSA back to the sore because it did not come with an adaptor or a manual. Many people said it was very loud and it would have cost me around $200.00 to tune it. I did extra online search about this BSA and noticed many people had many problems with them and cost $$ to repair. I thick I'll wait for this Gamo Dynamax, it sure looks good, and see how the others will review it. Currently, I cannot find a dealer who sells this one. Thanks again.

Pyramyd will be selling this Gamo rifle & they have fantastic customer service so that part is taken care of.
-
Yes, I'm aware of that. If this Gamo is not as quiet as most PCP's are, it is of no good to me. Gamo people told that it does not have a shroud and it is as loud as any other rifle they sell. That is pretty loud.

On one of the websites on the mall i saw the marauder for $399
-
Looks like a BSA. Wonder if BSA has turned over the PCP's to Gamo as well....:(
-
Gene BSA is a whole owned subsidiary of GAMO. GAMO calls all the shots & it looks like instead of coming up with a entirly new PCP for GAMO they just went to the BSA parts bin & made one. Typical big business move.
-
The last word I heard was that Gamo was only going to take over the springer devision of BSA. I do know that Gamo owns BSA now..:) Just hope quality does not go south..:(
-
Gene, they have owned BSA for over 7 years........
-
I`ve read somewhere that the Gamo Dynamax is not shrouded or in a bull barrel.....so I would think it would be loud. Gamo should`ve just re-labeled the Scorpion T-10 or any BSA product and leave them alone.....
-
Yes, I agree with gamo2hammerli. The current Gamo Dynamax design is a downgrade from just about any other PCP.
-
Well, I haven't seen or read much on the "Gamo Dynamax", however, from the photos it just appears to be a Sportsman HV, in a BSA tactical synthetic stock and re-badged as a Gamo. That's not necessarily a bad thing. The Sportsman HV is a superb rifle. Yes, it's loud. So is any other 30 + FPE PCP rifle without a shroud or other help. Based on what I have read, all the BSA PCP rifles are and will continue to be made at the BSA factory in Birmingham.
I'm somewhat amused that folks will belittle a rifle and decry its performance or reliability when they haven't even shot one, much less owned one. "Billy Bob said so, so it must be true.........."
btw, for what is worth, Gamo has owned BSA a lot longer than 7 years. From the BSA web site:
• 1986 BSA Guns liquidated, bought by Gamo and renamed BSA Guns (UK) Ltd
-
Bump for PeakChick's view on the matter! If it is a rebadged HV then maybe the magazines will be a little more affordable............
-
Hunting rifles are loud....well they are hunting rifles, meant to be hunted with in a hunting senario...that rifle is capable of huge power....way way underrated on the website or anywhere else...too bad you dumped it as you lost probably one of the most accurate...not 35 yard accurate...but way out there accurate, rediculously powerful and inexpensive hunting rifles out there...my Lonestar dialed down with JSB 18g takes squirrels and the like way out to 100 yards...and can be dialed up to throw JSB monsters 25.4g or Eunjin 28 gr way over 900 fps to take coyotes no problem...
