Well having diabetes at my age now has brought me to a point where I have less than normal circulation in my feet.. This winter is the first time I have noticed it and went on a jouney today to find some good insolated boots to wear in the shop. Took me 4 hours looking all over town and finally found them at Wally World..:) Been wearing them all day and no cold feet..:) They are rated down to 5 Degrees. Only got down to 49 today..:) But the cold days are ahead of us here so now I will be more comfortable spending 8 plus hours in the shop a day.
They are not only insolated throughout but will absorb any dampness that come from the feet and they are waterproof..:)
The best part of the purchase was that they only set me back $40.00 plus tax..:) My feet love em.

Now that footwear look's real toasty bro . :) That's my one setback out in the stick's when hunting during the cold month's, cold feet. :0 The lovely wife got me some toasty boot's after looking at my old one's. The souls were coming apart after 2yrs of winter hunting abuse hehe. Ed

Great find Gene! BUT, I'd be careful. My dad had diabetes and searched for the same thing. I'm not sure how bad the nerves in your feet are, but his were pretty bad. He had diabetic neuropathy. What ended up happening was he couldn't feel the boots rubbing his feet raw in some places. Because of the lack of circulation, it ended up causing an infection and had to have half his right foot amputated a year before he died.
I know it sounds bad and all, and I'm not tryin to be morbid here or anything here. I'm just trying to instill some caution. I'd hate to hear that one of my good friends had the same fate as Pops. A good pair of SILK socks should be on order bud! Between them and those nice boots ya got there...You should be OK!

Thanks Sam for your concern. I wear diabetes socks which works great for me. I can still feel some in my feet but I check them every night and morning.

Hooray for warm boots! There's nothing like a toasty warm pair of boots; tacky as it sounds, it's true! And it does help to keep them warm if they have both insolation* and insulation (http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif)
How cold does it get down there in SC anyways? Right now it's -2° here (one of the reasons I don't use CO2)

I've spent alot of money on cheap boots over the years that within a short time, weren't warm and leaked. In hindsite it was wasted.
Then I got myself a pair of Rocky Bearclaws. Warm, Goretex lined, and ballistic nylon outside to handle the brambles here. First hunt I used them on I was working my way slowly up a small stream looking for where deer cross. The banks were snow covered and too steep so I was walking in the stream bed. Felt something hitting my boots and looked down. There were chunks of ice coming downstream. That's when it dawned on me that for over 20 minutes I had been wading through water that was just below freezing point. And my feet were still dry and warm.
My feet sweat and wearing any type of rubber boots, within an hour my feet are damp and cold. With the Goretex lined boots, I had been standing in freezing water and the sweat was still being driven out through the Goretex membrain by heat vapor pressure, instead of condensing inside the boots and wicking away heat. Amazing stuff !!!!!
Those boots weren't cheap, but it's the best money I've ever spent on boots. They've held up to all my winter hunting, trap shooting, and driveway snow blowing for 14 years now.

Same here gene it runs in my family my mom has it and i just got it 2 yrs ago but thats life i know my time will come so thats why i live life to the fullest im still a young man 37 yrs of age so i do what i have to and try to stay healthy as much as i can who knows maybe they will find a cure soon 8) good luck.
