Bought my kid a Shadow 640, and though it's marketed toward young shooters, it's still a bit big for him and the plastic stock is not modifiable. Rather than see him sour on shooting, I was thinking of getting a wooden Gamo stock and cutting it down.
Gamo USA says none of the US stocks are interchangeable. Hmm. From the exploded parts views at the Gamo Int'l site, I see the Shadow 640 and the Model 400 are identical except for the stocks. However, there's no equivalent info on the US models, although Gamo USA does sell replacement stocks. The Hunter 220 stock looks like it might fit -- does anyone happen to know?
I'd just buy one and try it, but the rifle's in France, and grandpa, who's got the skills to do the stock mods, is in the U.S. I'm trying to avoid more in shipping costs than the stock would cost. Thanks.

I'm not completely certain if a Hunter 220 stock will fit that rifle, but if it offers you any encouragement - yes, some are interchangeable. I have a Hunter 220 with a Shadow synthetic stock, ordered from Gamo. I did the swap myself, it was very simple and easy. However the replacement Shadow stock on their site belongs to the Shadow 1000 which is a little larger than the 640 I believe. It might work, can't say for sure.

Thanks. I do know that the Shadow 1000 and the Shadow 640 have different spring tubes, or whatever they are called. They might be the same size, but might not!

The 400 and the Shadow 640 should have interchangeable stocks.
The 400 stock can then be cut down to suit your son.
You may have difficulty in getting one from Gamo in the USA.
PM me if I can possibly help.
