WOW Tommy,

I have seen Binary Explosives used many years ago, but they we not as powerful as this !

They were two liquids added together, and would explode after mixing if disturbed :(

The liquid was 200% less powerful, just enough to take off a leg.

Someone posted that the explosion looked faked. I jogged through it until 3:24. You can see the shower of sparks to the lower right of the water mellon with the pen still intact on the left. They stuck something into the mellon and detonated it while the fuse was still burning. Probably had a gob of two part epoxy on it.

As to playing with binary explosives - call for Homeland Security! You get caught with those ingredients and it's a quick trip to the hoosegow.

I hope it is a fake.  I don't know -- but it sure looks scary.

Jog through the video, starting/stopping just before the mellon blows. You will see what I'm talking about. The scariest thing about that video is the horrible music.  :D

The video is Semi-Real. The 2 components were most likely Iodine an Ammonium Nitrate and that small amount wouldn't have been sufficient enough to blow that watermelon the way it did. Not sitting on top of it anyway. That pen had to have been half full.  But still extremely concealable.

They're figuring out ways to make Aerosol bombs smaller and from everyday chemicals. Now THOSE are some nasty explosions.

yea first off if the pen was drilled and put inside the watermelon that would be more feasible, If you've ever watched them demolish buildings they'll drill into the center of the concrete support and blow it.  I could see half the water melon being blown up by that small amount but not vaporized.

Maybe primer cord? Fulminate of mercury? Anti-matter? Waste of what looked to be good, ripe water melon.

And one more thing. Fake! (NO SEEDS)

HoooRah! (Or whatever the Marines say. [Navy, here]) Carry on, men.

Squid here too... We said "Hoo Rah" in the SBU. Grunts say it a lil different! hehe

What is/was the SBU? Ex-submariner here. We said "Ho! Ho! Ho!" in the blow-and-go underwater escape training. Rest of the time we just said "Oh, #$%!"

SBU = Special/Small Boat Unit.  SBU22 & 26!

I did 3 years on Subs! "A" Gang!!! First boat was the Providence outta Rotten Groton. Too long a time between BESS and A School. So I decided to go TAD for a Med Run instead of TPU. Got my fish on that boat! Second was one of them new fangled 688I boats with bow planes instead of Diving Boards hehe. USS Tucson SSN 770. Did 2 WESTPAC's and 1 EASTPAC before switching over to SBU.

Oh, I know all about the steinke hoods and the "Ho Ho Ho" so you don't POP! hehehe

Remember this over the 1MC?
"ALL HANDS, RIG SHIP FOR ANGLES AND DANGLES!"
"Dive, give me a 10 degree up bubble. Helm, RIGHT FULL RUDDER come to course 150 and mark your headding!"

Ahhhh.... Them were the days!
