When the airgun bug bites, it bites hard!!! (http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-surprised.gif)
I had bought a new TF89 in .22 cal from Compasseco. As soon as I received it, I shipped it to Gene for his magic touch. Before it even got back to me, the bug bit again and I started making plans to sell something to make another AG purchase. I have almost convinced myself to head for the Dark Side by getting an Evanix Blizzard. And I WILL get one some day.
In the meantime, I listed my freshly tuned TF89 for sale but no one wanted to take me up on my bargain. I did get an offer but I respectfully turned down the chance to lose more money. So I gave the classified post one more bump before I glassed the gun and got to know it. Still no offer I needed so I mounted a new Center Point 4-16X40 AO-IR scope on an Accushot one piece solid mount. After letting the locktite set up 2-3 days, I went out to zero it in. It took about a dozen shots to get it on 8" paper at 25 yards. A few more shots and it zeroed. A couple more rounds and it went high and right by 2". Re-zero, two more shots and off to the left and down. All over the place. Mount and scope never moved.
So, I took that scope back to Wally World and swapped it for a Bushnell Sportsman 4-12X40 AO. Locked it down for 48 hours and took it out tonight to see what it would do. I set up my target backstop at 25 yards inside the warehouse at work after hours. It took about 4 shots to get it on paper and then another 4-5 to fine tune it. Keep in mind this is maybe 50 rounds I've put through this gun. Not really enought time to get familiar with it. Just getting acquainted. To my surprise, the Center Pointwas definately a defective scope. The Bushnell held true, just that the shooter needs to do his part. I am going to order either a shooters table with rest or at least some shooter bags. But in a hunting situation, I don't use such items so I like to go commando when possible. I shoot offhand and not with a shooting stick, bipod or anything.
I fired at the Shoot-N-C targets at 25 yards then measured off 10 meters and set up a target. Zeroing at 25 yards and then shooting 10m made the hit about 2" low. So I just guesstimated wheremildots would be and gradually pulled the aim point up. I had a few that were off due to the fellow behind the trigger. I pulled or didn't have my breathing correct before engaging the trigger. But I am VERY pleased with the gun. I just need to get more familiar with it. So, if anyone wants to buy it now, the price is still firm and if you want the scope and mount, my cost was $100 for the set. Add that to the posted price and you can get a VERY strong and sweet shooter. If not, I'm VERY happy to keep it in my harem. Just thought I'd let you folks see what she CAN do, and probably better with either a different shooter or after I get more trigger time. Happy Shooting!!!!

That's some very excellent shooting with your TF89. Glad you had the scope problem fixed.....a revolving reticle is MEGA frustrating.....you don't know if it's the gun, pellets, scope or shooter.

Thanks guys. The GUN did excellent, it's the shooter that needs some work. (http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-surprised.gif)
Ineed more trigger time to find out how she likes to be held. Plus, the wobbly little table I was propping my left elbow on was uncomfortable and not very steady. Sometimes you have to "run what you brung". She likes CPHP and was also spot on with Gamo Rockets. Both rounds are 14.3gr which will probably account for the similar accuracy. I didn't try the cheap TF wadcutters that came with the gun, but I should have, just to see the results. Maybe next time.
This is one HARD hitting AG.My backstop is pressboard5/8" thick that IHAD todouble. Shots were going through one layer at 25 yards. From the soundof the roundsfired from this gun at 25 yards, I had to check a few times to make sure it wasn'tpunching through the double layer.Jorge, I also pity the critter thatfinds itself in the crosshairs of this one!!!! I hope to do somenutter eliminationvery soon.
