: Gamo 9.9 Grain Raptor 22 Cal Pellets

Will the 9.9 grain Gamo raptor 22 caliber pellets damage the air rifles, like the very light weight 5.4 grain raptor pellets will when used in the .177 caliber guns?

I don't recommend using those in a springer , just to lite and may damage the spring and or piston seal. CO2 or PCP shooter's ok but not a springer. Ed

That is a little light unless it's maybe in a gas ram. I wouldn't suggest using them is a springer though.

Bob,
".........That is a little light unless it's maybe in a gas ram. ....."

Maybe not even then.

I've tried them in my gas Whisper and found they are not made all that consistantly. How snug or loose they fit in the chamber varies quite a bit. And when I chony'd them, they have the greatest speed variance of any pellets I've tried so far. Accuracy is not good either.

All I see going for them is speed,..  and if you lucky enough to hit what your aiming at, more penitration. All for at least 6 times the cost of good quality lead pellets.

Paul.

I've always thought of them as sending a rocket out with no guidance system on it hehe. Ed

Forgot to mention.... the light pellets do make it a bit tougher on scopes also.

why would you even want to shoot that crap?

The Raptor pellets are no good.  Due to the nature of the lead-free material, the skirt does not lend itself to flairing out and engaging the gun barrel's rifling to give it a tight seal when the trigger is pulled.  There is blow-by of air around the Raptors in the barrel and they actually shoot slower than lead pellets.  Stay away from the Raptors and spend your money on tried-and-true lead pellets.

They are inconsistant in fit and thus gave me a very wide speed variation, but they averaged  872fps, about 200 fps faster than any other lead pellets I've tried. Even down to a 13.4 gr. Exact Jumbo RS.

The good news about Raptors is they will let you know you missed sooner than any other pellet !!! :D  :D  :D
