: Gamo CFX 22 Caliber
: Larry January 26, 2010, 04:02:00 PM
I ordered the Gamo CFX 22 with synthetic stock this morning from Air Gun Depot. It will be the mate to my Gene tuned .177 CFX. However, if it has the plastic trigger it will most likely be sent back. My fingers are crossed that I get the metal trigger version that I can upgrade with CDT GRTIII trigger, and of course turbo tune in the near future. The delivery date is Friday the 29 of January by UPS. I feel the Odds are in my favor for the metal trigger, based on information recently received from LongIslandHunter. Also, if memory serves me right no one on the GTA forum has said they have a plastic trigger version of the CFX rifle.

It seems to be the norm now, praying for a Gamo with a metal trigger. :) Good luck and may the airgun God's smile down upon you. :) Ed

Actually, my buddy got one that I currently have in my possession right now.  It's a .177 purchased from PA in November.  The trigger is a little heavy, but I'm surprise how accurate it is. It's got about 100 pellets through it right now. Mounted with a CenterPoint AR22 and with CPLs, I can get nickel size groups at 30 yards. Needs to be held a little firm though. The one thing that does need to go is the TWANG!

Anyways, good luck with the purchase, I'm hoping with you.

Wait till I upgrade mine with the Theoben gas ram I'll be getting from Airgunwerks.

Oops I did mix up LongiIslandHunter and LongIslandArcher. Easy to do, but it won't happen again. However, on a better note we all have the CFX air rifle. A common interest for all of us. LongIslandArcher, I certainly will wait for your Theoben gas ram upgrade, before I make any tuning decisions. Again, it is a very exciting project. However, I plan to upgrade to the GRTIII trigger in the mean time. Delivery is Friday the 29th by UPS, and confidence is high that it will have a metal trigger.

I have a trigger upgraded slated for my CFX as well, but it's not the GRT-III trigger.

I'm using a Black Hawk Cheek Pad on my CFX .177 with good results. I'm seeing more consistent shot groups, which I believe are a result of a better cheek weld from using the cheek pad. Now I wouldn't be without one! I have an extra one that I will use on the 22 CFX.

Where can I get a Black Hawk cheek pad?

I ordered my black hawk cheek pads on line from Black Hawk. I have the simple rifle cheek pad, which is listed for $20.99.

Do you have high rings/mount with that pad? Sure looks pretty fat. I would be interested to know how much it cuts the transmitted recoi? I've draped a gel bike seat cover over a stock and found that it zips out about 90%. Is your pad filled with something similar or soft foam?

The Black Hawk cheek pad works perfectly on my CFX with a medium one piece UTG scope mount, and a Center Point 4x16x40 scope (Wally World Special). However, my brother-in-law has to use high rings on his crossman phantom, and it is just to high for a Beeman RS2. The pads comb is 1/2 inch high and it has a spongy foam material inside. I believe it works well on the CFX, because of the stock design. It also works well on my Marlin 30-30, Savage Mark II 22, Savage 93 17 HMR, and Remington 700 SPS 243. I have not tried the other more expensive (adjustable) cheek pad that Black Hawk has. Certainly, it would work well on other Air Rifles where the height can be adjusted to custom fit the shooter. I like the cheek pad really well, because it helps me get more consistent shot groups/placement. I would not hesitate to purchase the adjustable cheek pad if I should ever own an air rifle needing a custom fit.  :D
