First I see that Gamo has changed their trigger assy. and it will no longer accept a CDT GRT3. BOO!!! Then, I was just over looking around at PA, and I see that they no longer offer their Air Venturi gas ram for the Gamo for self-installation. What gives? I spent a good deal of time composing my installation write-up ( http://www.gatewaytoairguns.com/airguns/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=16773 ) and now it is worthless. *sigh*
I see that they still offer to do the installation FOR YOU, but it is now the Crosman Nitro Piston. Am I to assume Crosman bought the right to the Air Venturi?
I suppose at this point, you're better off buying one of the Crosman Nitro Piston products (though BB Pelletier reports (and PA sales pages seem to confrim) that they won't be sold under the Crosman name any longer) instead of Gamo.
I'm just dismayed to see that Gamo is going by the wayside. However, based on my experience with them last year, I can't say that I'm surprised. Looks like I'm out in the cold with my modified Whisper. Funny that Gamo now offers those with the wood stock like I (and a few others here) added last year.
Rant off... :0

How hard was the coversion to the wood stock? I would like to do that on my whisper.

I'll refer you here: http://www.gatewaytoairguns.com/airguns/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=16951
It was pretty much a drop-in fit, but I didn't like the lack of an end cap and how my main pin kept shifting. The only other thing is the platic washer (shim) on the cocking linkage roller needs to be taken off (very easy). I haven't had any corrosion issues with the copper endcap.

It's going to come back to bite them. More than a few buy Gamo's after learning that the inexpensive drop in trigger is available. Couple the new guns with the crappy ammo and you're right up there with Red Ryders. :0

In the real world of joe blogs air gun buyer that shoots in his back yard..
wheather the gun can take a gold trigger or has a new action with plastic guides..
none of this matters....what % of gamo buyer go into air gun forums...
Or even know that the gold trigger even exsist.....1 or 2% of gamo buyers Maybe..
and how meany of them buy & instal one.. less than 1% ?????/
If the prise is right people WILL buy them...And if they are cheaper to produce
gamo is the winner....
The people that won't buy a Gamo because the gold trigger no longer fits or don't like the
changes to the action..will bearly show up on the sales figgers...if at all...
How meany Gamo"s were sold last yer ?
How meany gold trigger's were sold last year "To go into Gamo's..
bet the diffrents in the two figgers is in the millions...

Hopefully, in our world of superfast information, these forums will be having a greater and greater effect on the businees of airguns. I for one got started here. I think I saw something I liked and googled it, like everyone else, and found my way here. I was patient enough (and lucky enough) to find so much info, which ultimately steered my decisions from then on.

Well Said.

Did your whisper shoot any better or worse with the 440 stock that it did with the synthetic stock.
-
Go to Airgunwerks.com and order yourself a genuine Theoben gas ram, IF they make one for your gun.

It's true, when I run into someone that finds I am an air gun person they mention wanting to get one. They mention a Gamo. Guess they seen a convincing ad somewhere. But when I say "WHAT" and fill them in and tell them to come to my house and try out a few other rifles. The mind is changed.... Frank
What about the Gamo ammo? Has that been changed as well? I had good luck with the Gamo Hunter both .177 and .22! Have not purchased lately....
