About a month ago I completed a transaction where I traded a nearly new RWS 350 for an RWS 48 that I was led to believe was in similar condition. It wasn't. all sorts of things were wrong with it. In testing the accuracy, it was low and left by nearly an inch at ten yards with the rear sights maxed up and right -- though the groupings were pretty good (.25 C-T-C). I looked at the schematic and made a call to UMAREX and talked about parts. I ended up spending about $40 on things that were missing or were obviously not standard. Most interesting of these was a missing barrel cover/shroud and the sleeve. The barrel underneath was OK, but the bluing was yellowish. But the part being missing left the plastic assembly between the receiver and barrel loose, and a big gap between the barrel and stock. it just looked all wrong, like a great dane puppy...
Well, I got the parts, knocked off the front sights, seated the shroud, replaced the cocking arm pin with a factory one, adjusted the front sight and made a small manual torque adjustment to the rear sight. The gun looked a LOT better with matching bluing and factory parts, and it took about 10 minutes! then I took it out to shoot...and voila! Still .25 C-T-C, but now it was on target with some minor adjustment to the clicks on the rear sight -- DOWN.
I've gone from being ticked off about the trade to being a proud mother hen. It needs a good cleaning to get the dust out of its crevaces, but at least it shoots right and looks right...
I've learned and will be more careful in the future...but I'm feeling good about the repairs and moving into more projects in the following months, so this was a good warmup.

Hi Richard, Its always nice to hear when things work out better and that another Diana has been saved:) I still hate you had to go through all that mess to get there. It maybe a good chioce for the 25yd open sight match? Tony

GREAT to hear Richard. Glad you were able to not only salvage the deal but come out a proud owner/user!!!!!
Happy Shooting!!!!

I've got an RWS 94 era Cometa Fenix on the way (pretty much brand new from a dealer's closet -- nice find), and it if it anything like my Cometa Fusion Star, THAT will be my open-sight competition gun (The fusion doesn't have open sights). I get just ridiculous groups with the Fusion (.03125" off hand, C-T-C). But, yeah, this Diana is saved, and who knows...with a little practice (which I plan on now that me and the 48 made friends) it may be my second ;-)

Good deal so to speak bro taking a broken yoke and making a Omelet out of it. :) Ed

hey i was the first or second one to get a cometa fenix400 from joe and it was an amazing accurate shooter with power and sound level is low i still have it and will not let it go i paid less for what they had them for. now look at the price 359.00 we were lucky last year when joe/cuz brang them in from spain however something went wrong that might off threw him out of commission but he was a great guy to deal with and he was my friend and everyone like him cause he knew how to make u smile ,i miss him alot he use to come to my house and talk for awhile and i hope he comes back ...hey doc dont give up on the cometa they come around once in a while .the rws 94 is also a great shooter for i shot one about a year ago and it was a keeper but the owner wanted no deals but sold it down the line anyway so i lost out ..i love my springers ...jorgie porgie

I get nervous when I start looking at stuff on online web classifieds. I cant get the thought out of my head that im going to buy someones headache, or there selling it because there's something wrong with it. I have past up a lot of deals because I psyche my self out. My Fenix 400 just arrived! I wasn't expecting it to come in till next week! I paid $140 and it looks brand new (an RWS 94 era Cometa, but it is a Cometa, not RWS). I already got in contact with manoubros about updating to the new sights/new look. I can't wait to get home and test this one out!!!

Well TBD, it's hard to keep a good man down.

well, as far as classified deals, I've done OK. Traded a synth Daisy 953 stock for a wood 853. Traded an RWS 350 for a RWS 48 (this bum deal). bought an awesome Cometa Fusion tuned for $270. Bought a Cometa Fenix new for $140. Got a Gamo big cat for $20 that is apparently broken -- but I'm probably adding a gas ram.
I've had to pass on some great stuff, and maybe I got a headache here of there...but those Cometas make up for it by far!

Ah, you bought that one off the Yellow, right? If so, I emailed that doofus two or three times. Finally emailed me back it was sold. Some folks just shouldn't be allowed to sell on the 'net. Anyway, hope you do enjoy it. And no skin off my nose.

Actually, found it on American Airguns Classifieds. Might have been on the Yellows too, but I didn't see it there. But I think you mean the one we both saw: http://www.network54.com/Forum/79574/message/1264776919/airgun+for+sale
I got a better deal!
