Do you have to use Predators for hunting to get good damage? I've used CPHPs on Squirrels and they blow a hole through them with the 350. Of course it does with the Predators as well.
Today I was shooting my TF 89 with RWS domed pellets. Man these things ROCK! It was like the gun was shooting itself! I would just think that at 20 yards these dudes would put some pain on a raccooon or possum. If for no other reason that you can put the pellet wherever you want it!
I've ordered some domed pellets for my Titan and AirHawk. I'm thinking they may be the answer to my accuracy problem on the Air Hawk.

You don't have to use the Pred's and if the RWS domes are accurate you could give them a try on larger then a Squirrel. I haven't used them myself so I couldn't tell you how they do as far as damage on larger critters like Bandit's etc. Some of the other hunters will jump and hopefully have some knowledge of the RWS dome's killing power. I love my Crow Mags. FWIW, YMMV.
They still pass through, but they leave a pretty big hole.

Randy,,,, as you know the Predators are awesome hunting pellets but a good domed pellet is also a proven game getter. My favorite domed pellets for hunting are the CPL's and the CPHP's. Yes, I know, the CPHP's are "technically" a hollow point but I look at them as just another domed pellet as I've never really seen any evidence of that little "dimple" in the CPHP's expanding like one would expect a hollow point to.
If my hunting rifles don't shoot predators well then my next choice is always a good domed pellet whether it be for feathers or fur.
As for the RWS Superdomes.... I know quite a few hunters swear by them but I've never had good hunting performance with them. They shoot very accurately in a few of my rifles but when I did try them for hunting they just didn't take down the game as effectively as the CPL's and CPHP's. But like I said,,, I've read many guys who love them for hunting.
Anyway, let us know how they work out for ya....

I just got a .22 Disco that I'm still getting used to so I don't hunt with it yet, but I do hunt with my RWS 48 .22cal. I found that JSB Exact Jumbos really work for me in the RWS and are doing pretty good in the Disco as well, but I still have to try a few different kinds before I'm satisfied on the Disco. I was in the Bass Pro Shop the other day and bought a can of Predators. I was curious as to how they would work in my 48 so I shot a few groups to see. Was quite surprised to see the Predators hold the same grouping as the JSB Exacts. I'm told that JSB makes the Predators and there is only 2/10s of a grain difference in the weight. JSBs are 15.8 grains and Predators are 16 grains. I like not having to adjust my scope for my hunting pellets. I don't know if anyone else has had this kind of luck with them. Maybe it's just a fluke with my gun.

i use rws superdomes inmy 850. 22 cal...theese pellets are super accurate and ive taken manny rabbits with them even up to 30 plus yards....thats the only pellet i use for my 850 for it fits well in the rotary clip....and the acvuracy is un beatable......

Alot of guys were reporting good success with the Preds so I bought a bunch of tins to have for the start of small game hunting season. The first five Grays I got were only using the .22 Preditors, and all were runners.
The first Gray, at only 10 yards, dropped where it was hit and lay on it's back twitching in a pool of blood. I could see that the shot was a pass-through right behind the bottom of both ears. I only had the one pellet with me and it was obviously on it's way out, so I went off to finish what I'd stopped doing when that Gray showed up. 10 minutes later I come back to get it and it's standing up on all fours looking right at me. As I walk up to it, it turns around and runs off toward the sticker bushes leaning to one side and running crooked, but it's gone. I looked for quite some time, but I never did get to recover it.
The next four were clear hits at about 20 yards, or less, but they also ran, and after extensive searching, none found. Discussed, I switched to using the 15.8 grain Exact Jumbo's and no more runners.
Since the switch to Jumbos back in September, 20 Grays have gone into the freezer, all with the Jumbo's, and no more runners. They pretty much died right where they were shot.
After I set up a back yard range, I re-tested the Preds at longer range than the 10 yard indoor range I had back then and found they are not as accurate in my gun as I'd first throught. May be the reason for the last four runners, but shot placement certainly wasn't a problem with the first. Not sure what I'm gonna do with all the Preds I bought - guess I'll just have to buy another 22 and hope it likes them. :D

Randy,
The best hunting pellet is the one that is most accurate in your gun(s). It doesn't matter whether it's the predator or the Superdome or a JSB domed. If you can place that pellet on the right spot in the critter's head, he 's a gonner. As long as you buy good pellets (for consistency) and not $2-3 cheapos, such as JSB, RWS and Beeman, they will do fine as long as your gun can shoot them accurately.
I have taken medium sized game like Groundhogs & possums with .177 Superdomes, .22 CP's, .22 JSB Jumbos and Kodiaks. For Raccoon I have only used Kodiaks & heavy Eun Jin's because I took them all with PCP's, but any of the other pellets will work on coon just fine if the head shot placement is right on, and the energy is there (minimum 10fpe on impact).

So far most of my kills are with .177 CPHPs, cheap Crosman Hunting (Dome) and cheap Crosman Wads. I`ve about 18 different brands/types of pellets....but since those work pretty well out to 40 yards...and they are not expensive I use them. The others I use to experiment with the airguns and for extreme accuracy i.e. the GTA Shooting Matches.
