my first PCP? I have never owned a PCP nor do I have any knowledge about them. The only reason that I’m trying to get into the PCP world is that many of them can be very quiet. That is it; I need a very quiet air rifle. I’m trying to get the most out my money without scarifying quality. Is the Marauder dependable enough to buy? I have heard many complaining of leaky Marauder. Heck, my Marauder my leak and I even do not know about it. Three more questions:
1- If you sight in your variable (or adjustable) power pcp say at medium power, will accuracy suffer if you start shooting at lower or higher velocities?
2- I heard some saying some PCP’s, specially the Air Arm S 410, can get as loud as RWS 48 when shooting at max power or velocity. IS that true?
3- Are FX air rifles warrant their outrages price?

Hi Sammy,,,
The Marauder is definitely dependable enough to buy. I have one in .22 caliber and I can tell you they are great rifles. Mine is powerful, accurate and so quiet it's amazing...
As for your other questions.................
#1) You should sight in your pcp for the power level that you intend to use on a regular basis whether it be for target shooting or hunting. Changing the power setting of your rifle can indeed change the POI of your pellet but it's easy enough to resight in the rifle for the new settings,,,,, or you can get a good mildot scope and use the mildots to compensate for any POI change that might occur.
#2) Personally I don't think an RWS is that loud. I have one and I shoot it all the time in my backyard range and have never had a problem with it being to loud for suburban use. As for the sound levels of pcp's,,,, it depends on the specific rifle. My Marauder is mouse fart quiet however my Discovery in it's "stock" form is way to loud for me to shoot in my backyard,,,, same goes for my Air Force Talon and Condor.
#3) Yes they are :)
Remember though,,,, if you go PCP you'll have to obtain the necessary equipment to air your rifle up. You can go with a pump, a scuba setup or spend a large amount of money and get yourself a compressor.......
I'm sure other members will chime in with their advice.

the very first thing to do is to decide how you're going to fill that rifle to 3000psi. Can be a hand pump or SCUBA gear. Can check out the prices on-line, but if you decide to go with a tank, best find where to fill it before buying anything at all. Not just look it up on line or in the phone book, but go there and see if they will fill the tank you are thinking about at all (some shops are a bit picky).
Once you know how it is going to get filled, can then thin about rifles.
#1. They worked the bugs out of the Marauder, it's definately worth the $ (believe the lowest on-line prices is $399). YES..canging the power level does change the point of impact, and will often find that the best shooting pellets at low power are NOT the best shooting pellets at high power. Pick a power...live with it.
#2. "mouse fart" gets used too much... gives an illusion that isn't quite true. Go stand in a tile bath room with a couple of phone books at your feet and pop off a round into the stack of phone books (better make it a thick stack). Mouse must have eaten at TacoBell. Shoruded PCP's are quiet, but not silent....if someone (like a neighbor) is listening for the sound of an airgun, he'll hear it...if they aren't listening for it, may well pass it up as some other noise as it doesn't quite sound like an airgun shot.
#3. Nope. those AA guns are much nicer in many ways, but not proportionally nicer (consider: you could get two Marauders for the lowest priced AA, and while it is nicer looking, it's certainly not twice as nice).
