Well,I am thinking about buying my first Chinese rifle. I have done some research and I am seriously looking at a MM B26-2. I would appreciate some feedback from some of my GTA brothers about the trigger, hold sensitivity, any barrel droop, and overall quality. Money is really tight and I don't want to make an uninformed decision. Thanks, snookman

They are a pretty decent gun Wade and do have a Rekord clone trigger in them and are also a pretty good trigger. Fair amount of power and usually pretty accurate. Mike Melick still has them available I believe and at a good price and a great guy to deal with.

This one's from ST @ AG1 and is a happy camper/shooter with his B-26-2 low comb. Did now the low comb looks *_*_*_*_*_*y!! I must resist..... :o

Here's the pictures

Thanks for the input Bob and Leo. I really want a German gun but that is going to have to wait. I think I will call Mike Melick on Monday to talk about the rifle. snookman

I have a .22 MM B26-2 low comb stock and it is a nice shooter. He works some kind of magic on the trigger when he tunes them. I did have to blue lock tight the barrel pivot screw but after I did it hasn't moved and I have a thousand or so pellets through it. Mine loves Beeman FTS and H&N Field Target Trophey pellets. You can't go wrong with a B26 from Mike.
Charlie,

Snookman,
Yes the German guns are nice but a B26 can be pretty awesome in its own right. If I were ever forced into making a decision to keep just one rifle (gasp!) I think my Mike Melick tuned Howie Intveld stocked B26 would be it. As others have said MM does some wizardry on the action. Smooth as can be and extremely accurate. Howie Intveld did a wonderful job on the stock. A recarve with a Tyrolean cheek and purple heart accent. If you could see it in person you would marvel at the finish. I'm not normally a shiny finish kind of guy but this one looks absolutely gorgeous.
I say get the B26 and seriously you don't need an R9!

Thank you Charlie.
Thanks Andy, that is a beautiful rifle. I was wondering what scope mounts you are using on the B26. is there any barrel droop. I think I am ready to make the purchase so I am going to need mounts. Thanks again for your help. snookman
-
It is a huge Leapers 6-24x50 IR scope! No barrel droop like my Diana 34 and 48. I've not heard of anyone with a B26 complain about droop.
To be really honest the rings are about the cheapest you can get. I think they are $5 shipped from dealextreme.com. I made sure I cleaned the dovetail and the mounts with alcohol and I have never had a problem with them. Rock solid and I have put probably 1,500 pellets through this rifle.

Thanks for the info Andy, I was also wondering approximately what the cost of the MM tune is. I see it offered on his web site but he has no price listed. I also wonder if I should get the high or low comb stock. Decisions, decisions. LOL. snookman
-
For sure the low comb stock.
-
Thanks for the input Antonio, and welcome to the GTA Brother. I think I will go with the low comb because I like everything as close to the centerline of the bore that I can get for accuracy. snookman
-
Get the low comb stock for sure. I went with the 3-9X40 AO scope and one piece mount that Mike offers as a package. The scope is pretty decent and the one piece mount is rock solid. If I can remember correctly Mike only charges about $35 or $40 for his tune and he does things to the trigger alone that makes it worth the money. Good luck with your purchase, you won't be dissapointed. If for some reason you are, Mike will definitely take care of you and make it right.
Charlie,

I have a couple B-20's which are the older version of the B-26. Excellent guns for sure. Mine is a tact driver to say the least. Tigger is excellent as well.
This one I call Snake Bite..:) Dsign by Shadow's Camo Design. One of the best Chinese guns I have ever owned.

I really appreciate all the input from my GTA brothers. Thank you. I am going to " PUSH THE BUTTON " on the rifle tomorrow. Can't wait, it will be only my second springer but hopefully not my last. Help! I got the bug. LOL. I LOVE the GTA, what a great place to be !!! Your friend, snookman

DId you say LAST Air Gun??? Don't kid yourself... lol Your hooked now..:)

I think you will really enjoy a B26-2. Very nice rifle for the money. I have had mine for about two years now and no problems and a very accurate shooter. I was lucky enough to have Charlie tune mine before he retired it is very smooth and quiet. Mine is a .22 and shoots about 650 FPS and does its best with JSB pellets. I don't find it to be hold sensitive I always use a basic artillery hold and it groups dime size at 20 yards consistently. If mine has any barrel droop I am hard pressed to see it my 3-9X50 has lots of adjustment left. The quality of the gun I think is good overall and excellent for a Chinese gun. I agree with the others you will want the low comb stock. I had to do a DIY on mine. That's why it's my black rifle. If you get it from MM I would suggest getting his full tune not just a lube tune. It takes luck out of the equation of getting a good B-26.

Thanks Walt, the low comb with the full tune is the way I'm going to go. I am still undecided on .177 or .22 though.
-
b26-2 in .22 from Mike was my first "real" airgun. It shoots very nicely w/ crossman premeir hp's. I don't think you can go wrong.
-
Thanks for your input Brian. snookman

i found that out
-
22 is the only way to go and mine likes to be help tight to the shoulder. and i prefer the standard stock

I did the same thing before buying my MM B26-2. Studied hard and reviewed almost all possible things to know about the B26 before contacting Mike Melick to order 1. Never looked back. I think I did the best decision I ever made in buying an airgun so far. Money wise it is affordable and the performance is really comparable to other airguns with respect to shootablity and tightness of groupings. How about this for a proof? My B26-2 is still under break-in time and probably about a tin can of pellets have been consumed yet.
35 yards outdoors in a mild breeze (2 - 3mph wind) using Gamo Wadcutters 7.71 gr: http://www.airgunone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2392
10 yards indoors entry on an online match challenge that we have at airgunone. The B26-2 just arrived and I only fired about 50 - 60 shots when I tried this match challenge entry. The size of the bulls area is 1/4 inch. As I have said, the gun is just brand new out of the box.: http://www.airgunone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2380
You won't go wrong with this one. Lastly, Mike Melick is one very good and honest guy to deal with when it comes to airgun stuff. Good luck and congrats on your future purchase!

Good point on the scope stop pin Tom.
That's some mighty fine shootin' there Willie. All you guys have made up my mind for me. The gun is going to be a B26-2 low comb, never had a thumbhole stock before,in .177. I'm going to put my Leupold 3-9x32 AO on it for now, but I want to get the Hawke 4-12x40AO as soon as I can scratch up the cash. The .22 with standard stock later for hunting. Thanks, snookman
-
If you want something more affordable and a good scope you can buy the Wally World version of the Centerpoint 4-16X40 Illuminated AO scope. The length of the scope is a good fit for the BAM B26-2 with extra space for the scope cap. A nice feature of the scope is the zero-locking knobs on the turrets. Just make sure that you use a medium height single piece scope mount for it rather than the one supplied. For less than $70.00 this is a steal!
-
I might just give the centerpoint a try Willie. That is less than 1/2 the price of the Hawke, and with Wally's liberal return policy there is nothing to lose. Thanks again, snookman
-
Exactly. That extra cash can help you buy some more bling for your B26 like a brand new barrel shroud from Gene_SC and probably some stock mod on your B26-2 from Timmy1959. I'm using the Centerpoint 4-16X40 AO right now on my B26 and things are easier to see now. Hehehe.
-
What are the benefits of a barrel shroud? I just ordered a low comb thumbhole stock to replace the standard one on my MM B26-2. At the time of purchase,Mike only had the B26-2 available with the standard stock.tia
-
It protects the crown of the barrel. If the shroud is a bit longer than the stock barrel then it can give you more leverage when cocking the barrel. Lastly, it is a nice bling for an airgun. Hehehe.

I have a Mike Melick tuned B26 in .22 and it is bare-none the most accurate gun i own, it shoots 14.3 grain pellets around 690fps and the trigger is excellent, i can clip little buds off agum tree at 35yards almost every shot and these arent much bigger in size than the pellet itself. im using a 4x16x40 scope and one piece mount on it, this was the first airrifle i ever bought a little over a year ago and have bought others since but the b26 will always be my favorite
