I have a funny story about today's experiences that some of you may find comical.

I have a target board that I occasionally walk out and staple some targets to to practice shooting or sighting in a gun with. It is placed at 25 yds. from where I shoot up against my horse corral. Today, my wife and kids were out and about away from home and with nobody around the house or yard, I figured I would shoot a target match at 10 Meters (33 feet) just for the fun of it. I set up a sawhorse with a piece of plywood and a few targets stapled to it at 33 feet away. This new target is placed a little less than half the distance away as the regular target.

I shoot the target for the exercise (standing and off hand) and score it and quite honestly, am feeling a little inadequate about my shooting skills. Let's just say there is a whole lot of room for improvement. I continue to practice some more at remaining targets up from the standing position until the wife and kids get home. With the kids out and about the yard, I pick up my stuff and put away the gun for the day. I finished out the day by doing some chores around the yard and straightening out the wood shed.

Fast forward to supper time. We are sitting down as a family eating supper, and out of the clear blue, my nine year old daughter asks: "Daddy, did you have trouble hitting your targets today and decide to move them closer" Her comment left me at a loss for words, I already felt bad about the poor score, and now my young daughter just stomped what little confidence I had left into the dirt. I tried to explain to her what the closer target was all about and she just said, "Don't worry, you just keep practicing and you'll get better"

Kids say the darndest things sometimes.......
