: Disco vs Katana
: DeutschKSK February 23, 2010, 01:25:52 PM
I have been looking at these two rifles, a fun tinker project to play with..

Which rifle do you guys think is more accurate? Or general differences between them.. there is not many reviews on them so your input is needed!

I already have a Marauder and love it.. still waiting for Crosman to get my damn pump back!

Thanks!

the Katana is supposed to have a choked barrel for improved accuracy.  It also has the Marauder style trigger group and you already know how nice that is.   I don't own a Katana so I can't comment on it's accuracy but I'm sure some owners will chime in.   Earlier today I ordered myself a new .22 Disco.  I considered the katana but my .177 Disco is so darn powerful and accurate and I like it so much that I decided to go with the Disco over the Katana.  The other thing was that I also don't like the overall look of the Katana and it's also about $100 more expensive.  For under $20 bucks you can get the disco trigger upgrade from TKO  which makes the stock disco trigger really sweet......

Jeff, it is true that the Kantana has a choked barrel and also the Maruader trigger. It has a smaller stock than the Maurader and bigger than the disco. My Kantana shoots dead on an it is a .22. With a little bigger stock it fits me much better. It is ambi as well. The trigger is very sweet as you know..:)

That's some good shooten there Gene.     Now, you either have a good camera or you have some of the best looking airguns I have ever seen. Your pictures are not helping my airgun addication. LOL.

Just happened it was a good day...:) Wish I had more of thsoe days..:) I did have some problems with the original mount that I used. After getting the right combination of scope and mount the gun really shot well. My Disco shoots just as nice but iti is a .177 and I have been using CP heavies in it. A very easy gun to shoot and really does most of the work..:0

Hey Matt,  Here's my humble 2 cents worth.  I have a .177 Marauder,.177 Disco and the Katana which only comes in .22 for now.  Asking which one I prefer is a tough call.  As you know the Marauder is boringly accurate, with several different pellets. (at least mine is)  My only complaint is the wieght of them.  I prefer a lighter gun.

The Katana's stock fit is perfect for me.  Just seems to come to shoulder real nice.  Overall wieght is in the range I like.  I mounted a 4x12x40 AO Bushnell banner on it and I like that combo.  The TKO muzzle  brake tames the noise down substantially.  I consider that addition a must.  Some people don't like the looks of the Katana.  The stock inletting is different.  There is a gap on each side of the barrel that you don't see on other guns.  The trigger guard is obviously different.  Appearance wise I like mine.  I think this is one airgun that would sell better if potential buyers could hold one before making up their minds.  Accuracy and trigger are comparable to the Marauder.

I did list my Disco for sale on the GTA here a few days ago.  Truth be told I'm not that anxious to sell it.  Mine is not as accurate as my Marauder or my Katana but it's not far behind in that department either.  The Disco is lightweight and makes for a nice hunting airgun.  I found the stock too short for my liking so I put a rubber butt pad on mine adding about 1 inch to the length of pull.  Of course the trigger is not as nice as the Mrod or Katana.  There are aftermarket fixes for that.  The biggest advantage to the Disco is their entry level pricing.

Your question was Disco or Katana.  I really, really like my Katana.  If I were forced to sell off these three the Katana would go last.  You or anyone else can PM me anytime.  Perhaps I could answer any other questions you might have.

If PA starts selling the Kantana in .177, I will buy one of those also....:) Butch I share the same views between the three..:) The tie breaker would be the lighter weight of the Kantana over the M-Rod.
