: Walther Falcon Hunter stock removal question
: RatPatrol February 24, 2010, 04:08:30 AM
Hello All,

I want to send my WFH to Pyramid air to get the gas ram installed, and i want to remove the stock and scope to save some shipping cost.
What screws do I need to remove to get the stock off, and what ones are left-handed?

any shipping tips are welcome as well.                                         :)

Thanks,
Frank

you need to remove the screws in the forearm, there will be 4 or 2 depending the age of the gun. Those screws are reverse thread (turn them right to loosen them). then there is a phillips head screw in the trigger guard behind the trigger (it's the larger of the 2). That one is regular thread. That should get the stock off.

Forget the cost, you open the gun and they find anything wrong in there they won't warranty it.  Ps Mine doesn't have any reverse threads.

Mine did have the reverse (left hand) threads.

Frank, I would advise that if you insist on shipping just the barrel/action minus the stock that you go the extra mile in securing the contents from being able to move in the package. The only time I ever tried this method of shipping, I got damage to both ends of the gun and I get queasy at the thought of long packages being thrown onto trucks.

All,

Thanks again for the info.
I shipped it off totally assebled in a hardsided gun case.
got it back in under a week...Pyramid Air turned it around on the same day they received it...Awesome service.

I am pleased with the upgrade...super-smooth cocking and it's finally grouping well...BUT to the left.
i have the crosshair adjustment all the way out until it stops, and i'm still about 4" to the left at 30 yards.

any ideas?
is the scope hosed?

What size scope are you using?  Using the stock scope, had no issues, threw on a knock-off tasco 6-24-50 and had to shim the back ring up with a little wedge.  I actually believe the rail on these guns is not straight and it becomes more clear with the more powerful scope you put on it.  Just a theory though.  Good luck, i went back to a smaller scope and it worked again.  The gun is also fun to shoot open sites.

it's the stock scope.
maybe the rail is crooked...can you shim sideways as opposed to up and down?

Is it a one piece or two piece mount?

I really don't know about side ways shimming.  Have you put on better rings yet?  Make sure you do, bc you will never hold zero with the stock rings anyways.  I used the cheap rings with textured tape on the inside and four screws per ring cap and two screws per ring base or buy a one peiece mount with four screws on the base rail.  If your gun is still under warranty you can just contact umarex and get a new one to try, just convince them that your scope is toast, meaning it no longer focuses poperly.

2 piece.
i was thinking maybe take the scope and mount off, and removing a little material from the claw part...some off of the right side on the front, and left side off of the back.
what do i have to lose? :)

i'm out of warranty on it.

You read my mind . I got away with that on a 7MM Remington Magnum, not sure with an air gun and all the bouncing.

i have found the problem with the rifle...the scope mount rail is on straight and true...the barrel is crooked at the hinge.

i was able to sight it in with the open sights, but as far as using a scope...i guess im screwed :0

you should try a differant, known good scope dude. if your gun is out of warrenty then it sounds like you had it a while. unless you droped it or fired it with the barrel open or did some other damage then you should not assume that the barrel is crooked or bent. If you really are convinced the barrel is bent or out of alignment, you could probly put a straight edge on it like a yard stick on the part that the scope rail is on and measure to see if the barrel is the same distance away from the yard stick on both sides...personally, i would more likely think you have a bad scope. The stock scopes that come with those guns and most other guns are made in china junk. Otherwise they would have a reputable scope makers name on them. Do yourself a favour and go buy a decent scope and rings and try that. If it is straight with the iron sights then it should be straight with a scope.

i"m pretty sure its bent...the rear iron sight needed to be adjusted way to the right, and the barrel vs. the receiver sorta looks crooked.
I'll put a straight edge against the rail and check for sure...
