As some of you have seen in The Shop forum,I just put the finishing touches on my Benji Super Streak.22 conversion today, I've been shooting it on and off to see how accurate I can make it (or how it can make ME). I stop shooting for a while and work on other projects before returning to pop a few more rounds. There have been a lot of black birds flying in and out of the yards in the area. Occassionally, I'll get some to stop by my songbird feeders. I caught one of thedevils feeding on some leftover seeds from an old feeder I just replaced. I haven't even had time to pick the old feeder up to dispose of it yet. Good for me, bad for him. This shot was slightly over the 25 yards from the rail to the target backstop. Chest shot and he went down immediately. And I found out something else about Benji. He doesn't really like the artillery hold that most of my other AGs prefers. He likes a firm grip on the front and pressed firmly into the shoulder to give you his best.
Benji scores his first kill of 2010 and hopefully not his last. I'm about ready to seed my yard with some old chopped up pretzels or bread. (http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif)
Happy Shooting!!!!

Nice shooting! I haven't seen a dead Grackle for a while :)
-
That what you guys call a "grackle"? I've wondered. I think they are cow birds here.
-
Yeah, grackle, cow bird, and I just call them black birds. (http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif)
And I'm on a roll today. Just looked out and there was another in the almost exact place. Slowly opened the storm door, took a firmgrip on Benji and let the CPHP fly. He just dropped straight down. MAN I like my NEW Benji. HeeHee
Went down to take a photo and a darn tree rat ran from the side of my property, RIGHT in front of me and jumped on the pecan tree just behind the target area. Teasing me or has a death wish......LOL

Thanks guys. I only have about an acre out here in rural TN. I'm glad to have it but wish I had more wooded area close by. There are small groups of trees to the left and right of my property that hold a few tree rats. Sometimes they venture into my yard to feast on pecans or to snatch them to store away for winter. That's the two tall trees between my house and my shop. Chris, I don't have a Disco yet but I would be able to reach out and touch critters (flying or climbing type) all the way to the back of my property line with one. I'm debating the purchase but just having too much fun right now working on, modding and shooting my springers.
More photos coming, I hope.

Proudly presenting.....my Benji SS. HeeHee

Very nice looking shooter Dave. And it's extra nice when your efforts turn out such great results too !
That's quite alot of barrel, hows the balance ?
Paul.
-
Thanks Paul. The balance is excellent for me. I got to hold and play with one of these at Dick's Sporting Goods before I ordered mine from PA. I'm 5'10" and over 200lb so I like a big bulky gun. To me the weight helpsme steadymy shotsand also helps absorb the recoil this monster CAN generate. It feels stout like it's powder burner cousins that I own. The longer barrel, IMO, also helps me steady and makes for more accuracy. Balance is good, not heavy or light on either end.
And after deburring, honing, dressing the spring ends, adding a polished brass washer to the guide, using moly everywhere needed and heavy tar on the spring made this beast VERY easy to cock. No twang but you still get some recoil due to the magnum cylinder and massive piston. But, I likes it!!!! (http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif)
