I been trying out my new hide in the back yard lately and late this evening before it got dark I took this field rat at 70 ft.
I watched him for a few minutes coming out from under a wooden pallet and running over to my bait station to steal some cat food.
I noticed he would come up to the edge of his burrow and just look around for a few seconds before taking off.
Well those few seconds cost him.
I was waiting and took him with a CPHP out of my .177 disco.
I've got game cam photos of coons, possum, skunks, and feral cats around my feeding station.
when it warms up some this is gonna be fun.

Congrats on the Rat. They give me the creeps.
Actually saw on tv the other day where someone wants to protect the " endangered wood rat". Well, we have them here in the South and let me tell you, they ain't " endangered". What is to be protected next?.......the common house fly?

I've shot rats before and it's not that easy. They're devious and fast. It's like they know somebody is going to try to shoot them in the head, so they duck a lot! Nice shot.
Nice set up and nice scouting, too.
