Guys, PLEASE HELP !!

In my eternal quest for the perfact Air Rifle, Which is the MOST ACCURATE and WHY !

The BREAK BARREL or The UNDERLEVER ? That is the question !

All I know is there is beauty in both, and I have problems with my BIG fingers on my B-3.

Hey, Bill,

When I bought my first rifle (just last June, seems longer!), I ended up getting a CFX, because I was convinced a fixed barrle HAD to be more accurate.  Well, I've shot a lot of pellets through several different rifles of both types, and I gotta tell ya, I don't think there's much if any difference.  I've shot a Gamo S1 K and an RWS 350 that were just as accurate as my CFX.  I think the shooter makes far more difference.  I also think that being comfortable with whatever you shoot will have more impact on accuracy than anything else.  I'm still working on that with my Beeman :-)!  I do think that the fixed barrel guns will keep their initial accuracy, while the break barrels may degrade slightly due to simple wear and tear on pivots and locking mechanisms.  So make you and your big fingers happy, Bill, and get an R9 :-)!

Hey Bill,

I agree with Dave.  My CFX is extremely accurate, but so are my break barrels.  I think Dave hit the nail on the head when he said  the shooter is the deciding factor in accuracy. My pair of R-9 Goldfingers are just as accurate as my CFX, matter of fact they are more accurate in the sense that those 2 R-9's shoot almost any pellets I feed them with incredible precision,,,, the CFX does the same but not with as many  different pellets.  Go for the R-9 Bill,,, ya won't be sorry !! :)

Like the guys said... the biggest thing is usually lock up. If it has a good lock up and the pivots and linkage are lubed as well as the lock up points, there is usually little difference. Gamo can have lock up issues just like any other break barrels but it's rare and usually very fixable. The only other issue in some break barrels is the side play and that's usually just an adjustment thingie.

Just one last note Bill...:) When I look to purchase a new air rifle now, I never even give it a thought about which is more accurate..:) As you did, I once had my doughts at the beggining of my air rifle hobby..:) Now when I buy a air rifle, I think of weight and overall handling..

CharlieDaTuna, I have a new 440 Hunter that appears to have a little barrel droop as when the scope is mounted the elevation is almost maxed out at 30 yds. I was thinking that it may be associated to barrel lockup so what is the correct way to check to make sure I’m getting correct lockup…

PS you should be receiving my MO shortly for your trigger.

Thanks, Tom
