In looking at the HW 100 and the Beeman offering I see the new HW has a shrouded barrel now which should make it nice and quiet.
Is there any other difference that would push the choice to one maker over the other? Am looking at one of these or a Theoben Rapid S or possibly an FX model. Only in .177 calibre as I am set with .22 calibre in a PCP I really like for hunting. I am filling out the collection in a manner simple for me. One really nice springer in each of these calibres and one really nice PCP repeater. No single shot rifles in PCP as I really, really need to have the option of quick follow up shots.

The FSB (full shroud barrel) is the newer release from HW. The Beeman (that's shown on PA's website) has the mod on the end of the barrel. I'm sure it's glued on and non-removable, but most manufacturers are going to full barrel shrouds for the US market. Mod thingies on the end of the barrel (even on airguns) are a touchy issue here. I have no idea which is the quieter of the two. A properly done full shroud can be very effective. The Maurader is alleged (I say that cause I have never heard one fired) to be one of the quietest PCP to date. For me, personally I would opt for the shrouded barrel. But that's just me.
