I cannot wait to get out. This weather has them shut down around here unless you can find the deep holes. My boat is dead right now and its killing me! I will have it running soon though and will be out killing fish. I miss fishing. I have over 30 fishing poles from 10 lb trout flounder rigs to 80lb im gunna pull the plug outa the bottom of the ocean rods in the garage with fresh line rigged up and ready to go. 6 are rigged adn ready fro trout. I got 5 lures from spoons to suspending mirror lures soft plastics and 1 rigged for live bait. I went to the beach about 2 weekends ago with my surf rods and sat there watching the fishing poles rock with the waves nothing biting. I cant wait to leave NC and get back to Pensacola Fla where there is always something biting.
Good luck on the first.

Maybe later on in the month. Might even drive down to the Rappahanock by Fredericksburg, VA and catch the shad run. Been meaning to for over twenty years. A couple of years ago the Army Corps of Engineering blew on old dam that had been below the town since the 1850's and served no purpose. Before it was demolished, a survey of aquatic creatures found about thirty species below the dam and only nine above. The removal was to promote migration back into the rest of the watershed. Hope the shad run gets up that far. So much better for the river, too.

I've been thinking of heading to some of the local salt water tidal streams and trying for some white perch. Read in the local fishing magazine that their doing quite well with the white perch. NY recently passed a new law requiring a salt water fishing license so I guess I'll have to go buy a license first :( I only hope that NY does good things with all the revenue generated by this new license requirement..... although I doubt they will.....

I live in upstate New York, and I don't have any salt water near me. Although we have pretty good runs of steelhead in the creeks coming out of lake Ontario. I caught a 10 pounder last year on April first. I thought I hooked a Buick. They also stock a stream within a mile of my house full of brown trout. Not the same as the wild ones, but no doubt still alot of fun. I live near Seneca lake also, and this month the pike fishing is awesome there. I may head out this weekend after the northerns. I haven't fished since august. I live near the canadaguia outlet, and there is some very nice smallmouth swimming in there. I caught a 20 incher last year. Biggest smallmouth to date at 5 lbs. I hooked him on an ultra light with 4 pound test mono. It was one heck of a fight. Good luck to all you guys in your fishing ventures. April 1st is like a holiday, and only comes after opening day of archery and gun season for deer.

Salt water licenses are pretty common among the coastal states. Remember, it usually all goes back into the environment. Now you will have an excuse to buy new salt water tackle, LOL.

Call me lazy I prefer sitting in a lawn chair under lantern light pulling in 20 -30 pound blue cats , normally allot of time for good conversation but when there biting it's allot of fun and will most definitely be out there trying my luck. P.S and do not forget the cooler of beverages.

Or the Avon Skin So Soft fer the skeeters. They get MANY more bites than I do!

Plan on it this weekend. The weather is finally going to warm up to what should be our average . Going to try for some crappies . A little long lining trolling and some float and fly fishing with some mini-jigs I've been tying up lately . 1/100, 1/80 , and 1/64 ounce jigs . These boxes are Plano 3448's that are 3" x 4 3/4" kirby

Well It was 61 deg. today here in N. Texas and it's time to get the sandies and crappies as they will be heading up the creeks.Hell I never stop I fish all year long in fact it's time to fill the freezer back up with catfish so that by April we can have a good fry at our next NTAGM shoot & eat!
-
Well smallmouth is the best game in town here and we don't have to wait on no stinkin' calendar. The fun never stops here but even us smallmouth junkies have to re-rig when we get a hankerin' for some fried crappie. And now and then we let ourselves get distracted when those BIG flatheads stack up below the dam.May God Bless the fisherman. Long live the fisherman.

I also love to sit next to the creek with a lantern and some smelly cut bait for cats. We only have channel cats here, and they don't get as big. But still, we caught a few 10 pounders over the last fews years. As for the beverages, I'm switching to alcoholic......:) I turned 21 the 27th of January. Free and 21 now baby..
