Just committed to one on the Yellow, a 600 in .177. Would have preferred .22 but it was only $70 shipped. A refurb, likely from Umarex, although I can't see anything wrong with it from the pix. Seller claims 900fps with only about a hundred pellets through it. What can I expect once all of the oil burns off?

Now I've had about every country of origin except Russia, Turkey, Egypt (yes, looked at a Ramses recently) and India. (Boy, can't wait for those Indian guns to show up. A lot like the old Diana's.) Around the world in air guns, LOL! :D

I have the same rifle.... Mine started off shooting in the mid 900's,, once the oil burned off it  dropped down to mid 700's,,,  although even at the lower fps it's still accurate, very consistent and still has a nice firing cycle.  I really like the trigger as well.   If I put a few drops of oil in the port the fps will rise again.

Thanks. Don't have a chrony but will report on it once it arrives. Seems everyone likes these when they don't use the oil. Do you know if the 600's front sight matches the Mendoza diopter sold by PA? That is what they put on the 2000's.

Not really sure about the front sight.  I'll have to get it out of the safe and then take a look at the sight on PA you referred to.....

I got the gun out of the safe for a look......This is the front sight on my 600

I don't know if it matches the rear diopter sight you're interested in.  I read some reviews on the diopter and at least one person said the diopter required a front sight that sits higher than most do....

don't know if this helps you at all...

RedFeather, You got a good gun for the money. I have a Mendoza RM200 in .22  It's a carbine size and not as powerful as the 600. I think the sights are the same. The rear sight is not the most user friendly to adjust, but once you get it sighted it works fine. Mendoza's can be picky about pellets. I've found Daisy pointed to be the best. They are cheap and easy to find at Farm and Fleet. I oiled mine at first and it was not consistent. I think the detonation broke the spring so when I tore it apart I removed the felt ring which fits around the piston. I took the largest part of the broken spring and used it with a new spring guide which I made. The Mendoza springs have a lot of preload normally. Since I only used about 3/4 of the old spring the preload was reduced, even with the longer spring guide. The rifle shoots like a dream now. It has less power, probably 400 to 450 fps, but it is dead on accurate up to 30 feet. I use it for indoor shooting and those pesky pigeons. The Mendoza trigger is great. Just don't let it come apart when you tune the gun. It's a PITA to put back together. If you decide that you don't like the gun, which I think is unlikely, let me know. I'd kind of like to own a Mendoza .177. Have fun and enjoy.
