I got a new 100 year old design 1911 for my big 50 birthday coming up. Last month was the 100th anniversary of the patent on the 1911 pistol so I thought it was only fitting to get one for my 50th BD coming up shortly. Of course Brownings other top design turned 75 this year. Now I will have to add a High Power to the collection. Here is a link to some info and photos. Almost all of my other pistols are traditional DA/SA designs.

Nice!

Cocked and locked! But don't forget the Browning! And don't wait until you turn 75. Happy Birthday and congratulations.

Cool idea. My Hi Power is a Nazi proofed 1941 model, and a good shooter. I did not realize the design was at the 75 year mark.
I gotta think Ma Deuce is another pretty successful design (circa 1921?) and how cool would it be to get a .50 for your 50th? Oh, well...(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif)

For only $10,500.00 one can have this HP with a little bling. Too over the top for me.

What upgrades do you have planned for your new piece?
A friend of mine is a school buddy of John Jardine. I've been trying to get him to talk to Jardine about a few things I'd like to have done to my Springfield. But it seems like the waiting list goes on FOREVER!
So until then, I've been honing my pistol smithing skills on a Rock Island A1 Govt. and a Charles Daly Compact. Once I get the right jigs and enough nerve, MAYBE I'll tear into my Springfield.

I first plan to shoot it a lot and see what needs to be upgraded.
Jardine does some nice work.
What mods have you done to yours?

None so far on the springfield. On the Rock Island I changed out the front sight, adjustable rear sight, 1 piece guide rod, commander hammer and an adjustable trigger. The Charles Daly all i did was some trigger stoning, adjustable trigger, speed hammer and new main spring. It came factory with a high beavertail grip safety and commander hammer. So I transplanted its hammer into the rock island.
Both of them are wearing Pachmayr Legend grips. The rubber finger grooves make for a nicer fit to my hand.
