: Shooting tips for the RWS 5G?
: RedFeather March 11, 2010, 07:48:21 AM

Just picked up one of these and it's a bit stiff to cock. Since it has what I take to be a plastic hooded front sight, I don't want to cup it with my palm, which leaves not much barrel to hang on to. As I have a bit of joint pain these days, is there a cocking aid, etc, that was made for these? (The old BSF and Walthers used to come with a wooden ball to slip over the muzzle and sight.)

Thanks in Advance!

My RWS Diana P5 Magnum`s front sight is just a red fiber optic so I also have to be careful when I go break the barrel.  Nothing much I can do about it....at least the fiber optic is pretty thick.

I have one. I don't have a problem cocking but She does. I was thinking about slotting a length of 3/4" PVC irrigation pipe for the front sight, maybe carpeting the inside of a 1" piece, just for a cocking aid. I didn't try it, but I don't see how it would be much different than the ones they sell.
