Well I put out the trail camera again with hopes of viewing some night life in the canyon behind the house. This time I put out some of those bacon dog treats that drive my pom crazy. Well I got off work today and raced down to the camera to see if it had taken any photos there were 10 logged. So I was really stoked to see what it caught. Well here you go....
-
Nice shots. I have to get me one of those cameras. I think I'm better with a camera anyway...lol....
-
What I did was hang the camera from the fence facing the canyon in the back yard of the rental. So this bad boy was about a 100 feet from the house.. I may have to do a covert mission trying to get him but he looks pretty big... Thought I may have to buy another pellet gun to handle the job...... I wonder what the wife will think of that? Details to follow......

theres two you can add to the critter count
-
They have to go belly up first before they can be added to the hall of fame list..LOL
-
Nice pictures! Thanks!

Is it a coyote or a fox? I can't really tell. Or just a nasty looking dog? :)
You may want to put your camera a little further from the bait if possible or put the bait out further. You are getting the a lot of reflection from the grass. It took me awhile to figure out the best location for the "compost" :)
Not sure you are going to bag that with an air gun unless you have a big bore air gun.
Can you hunt at night where you live? In TN the only thing you can shoot at night here are possums and raccoons, and even then they have a lot of restrictions on weapons that you can use at night.

I will have to check on the night hunt. I wonder if a .22 Mrod would take it down with a head shot. Thanks for the advise on the camera settings I need to recon a different location so I can pick up more action. I did this one so I could see what was close to the house.

Great pic's and I believe that you can take a yote with the right airgun and ammo. Got to have in range and be super stealthy in a hide. Ed
-
Some of them are up to 40 pounds! Are you sure an air gun would do it?
-
Time to get one of them "Big Bore" airguns!!!!!
-
Is this your property?
If you want to bag that critter, set out a cable snare. That'll get him cleanly and quickly. BUT just remember, they are lethal and if a neighborhood dog gets caught, he will more than likely die. Also, don't set them within sight of passers-by who will be offended at the sight of an animal in a snare.......Don't ask me how I learned that lesson.
-
Thanks for the info but right where the Yote is standing is a horse trail that runs along the fence line.. For now I think I'll try to take pictures...
-
Bow or Crossbow :) Nobody will hear:)
-
Good thinking. Alongside a popular trail = not good location for snares or traps. Too many that walk by will find offensive.

That's something that I've wanted to do for years. (stick one with my bow) Several years ago, a friend of mine and I tried to get some into bow range day calling with hand calls. That is a tough chore that did not work out so well.
