Perhaps there is still hope for the new gamo's. Difficult? Much custom work involved?

What does the stud do, prevent the trigger from hanging down?

The "stud" takes the place of the fat pin on the GRT-III and acts as the safety block for the bear trap.
We gave it a lot of thought and consideration and pretty much the same idea and even thought about tooling up for it. If I didn't know better, I'd say he copied it..:D :D Gene and I discussed it a few month ago. I had even discussed it with a couple of guys on the forum and in fact, a couple of others proposed pretty much the same idea so it was thought about by not only myself and Gene but a number of others in the past. You did a good job on it Joe and you are to be commended.
So why not make it???
Well we were going to make it but the problem is that in order to install it without have it being a pain, you need to have a spring compressor to remove the trigger. It would be difficult getting the trigger reassembled and trying to get the cover back on unless the trigger assembly is removed from the gun. It is also difficult getting the pin retainer spring clips off without damaging them. I could foresee a lot of customer problems and installation complaints if marketed and also the danger of people trying to remove the trigger without a spring compressor.
Retooling to make the change would not be that hard to do .The trigger above is one of two GRT-III triggers that Joe in Hong Kong bought from me at the end of Feb. He has shaved the nose off for clearance and although pretty rough made the safety pin for it. We were going to either press fit our "bear trap safety post" into the trigger or mill it in.
If a person were equipped and had the right tools and had done a couple, it would be no problem but it would be far from being a drop in trigger for the average guy on the street. Nothing like the GRT-III installation that's for sure.
Who knows, maybe I'll still do it. 8) 8)

Still seems like it would be more work for the guy or gal who just want's to drop in your fabulous GRT-III and go shoot........man where did that little spring fly off too hehe. Ed

Bob explained it very clear.
I don't have any steel rod with the same dimension sitting around so I took a 5mm drill bit and cut off 1/2" from the shank so it is HSS......the flat sides are made witha 8mm cylindrical green stone.

How much would it cost to send you the air rifle, and have you install the GRT-III ????
I know that I would have paid a good penny for a good trigger for my Gamo 890S !!!!
I was looking at Timney and any other replacement triggers, and there not cheap. but a good trigger is essential for a good gun !
I was very happy to find the GRT-III trigger, and at such a good price ! But I know if I couldn't find a good trigger for a Gamo, or Gamo clone, I will never consider them again !!!

So what might it cost to make the Gamo's a Great rife again ??????????

In the long run this "new" trigger might help Crosman at the expense of Gamo. - From what I've read, I wouldn't pick up a new Gamo any longer. While my Whisper is a great shooter now, it's only because of the GRT-III trigger. - In fact I'm toying with the idea of having a gas ram installed - we;ll see.

Wow....that`s impressive and excellent work on that GRT III trigger. I don`t dare take apart a trigger assembly yet....small pieces are going to fly out all over the place.
To remove the piston of my RWS Diana P5 Magnum pistol a few months ago, I had to remove it`s trigger assembly. Unknown to me, when I did that....the trigger assembly fell apart into 6 different little pieces. Took me 2 days....a total of about 14 hours to put it back together.....and that`s with help from some GTA members showing me the exploded view of the Diana P5 on the net.

It seems that I made an error in a previous response. I did not pay much attention or give any thought to the trigger in the pics that was used but knowing that Joe bought 2 GRT-III triggers from me. I just assumed that it was what was the GRT-III that was used. I was more interested in what he had done and how and was glad to see that he was successful with it. How and what he did to accomplish it would have been the same regardless which trigger that he would have used. However, the GRT-III trigger was not the trigger that was used in his project but it seems that someone wants to make a big deal out of it when it doesn't even matter. I guess that you just need to consider the source.

Who knows Paul. If we ever decide to set up and make them, that might be something to be considered. It might get a little expensive though with 2 way shipping, parts and labor.

It would be the only way I'd ever consider buying another Gamo. IMO, without being able to use your trigger they're not worth owning!!!!
