: B3-1 breech seal
: reysaint March 17, 2010, 11:48:44 AM
Has anyone found a source for breech seals on a chinese B3-1 air rifle?  Is there a hardware store type gasket or seal that would work for this rifle?

You guys are a wealth of information on this forum-- -----------------thanks

Head on down to the Hardware or Auto store and size up some of the clear fuel etc. hose. I use it as well as several other members here for their B's and it hold's up much better then the stock seals. Ed

I use 5/16 ID x 17/32 OD hose. The squishier the better. Your mileage may vary...so sometimes you gotta take some measurements, buy a bunch of samples, and see what works best for your breech today.

I couldnt find the black fuel hose thats a bit squishier when I rebuilt my kids B3 but I tried a vinyl hose I THINK was 3/8 od used a pair of cutters to get a nice square cut and it worked perfect after a few initial opening and closings.... was something like 75 cent a foot at my ace hardware lol....

you want it to stick out alittle bit from the breach face when your doing it this way.... just experiment till its right

I honestly dont remember the exact diameter of the hose I used its up at my GF's house and I am home right now.... I had the gun apart and just grabbed the compression chamber took it to the HW and grabbed hoses till I found one that fit

yep, at home depot I found some vinyl hose thats used in plumbing...like for sprayer attachments for the kitchen sink. It's clear and has criss-crossed, white, fiberglass reinforcement...and the size is very close to the fuel hose. Works really good too.

take a look at the faucet washers while you are there.  Some of them are pretty close.  I tried some hose but the fiberglass reinforcement left little strings that made me think that the the seal might vary in usage.  It may not be a problem.  I just wondered.
