I ran out of Predator pellets this afternoon so I sighted in the 16gr. Air Arms Diablo Field pellets. Ten minutes after sighting in, a starling was sittin' way out on top of a hydro pole. I put my Bushnell Legend 1200 ARC rangefinder to use, and the distance came out to 75 yards. The scope was set on 6X power so I cranked it up to 9X for the long shot. I was at the truck when I ranged the starling and the box made for a handy rest. From lots of practice and experience I knew exactly where to put the crosshairs. I slowly squeezed the trigger and sent the Air Arms Diablo Field pellet across the 75 yards right to the vitals. The starling dropped like a stone. (Check out the shot placement in the pick below) The starling was perched quartered-to, just the way it is in the picture.
This shot is my furthest shot on a critter so far - exceeding my previous farthest shot of 60 yards on a starling. I love my Discovery and have total confidence in taking 70-75 yard shots - thanks to lots, and lots, and lots of practice. I'd say this was a good first test for the Air Arms pellets.

Nice poke on such a far off target. My boy has the record with mine, his was 72 yards, and my brother has a 70 yard shot with the same gun. I have to admit I don't shoot the disco much. Any way you look at it that was a great shot Brian. Keep it up.

Great shot. I love the feeling you get from a solid long kill.

Good shooting.

Incredible excellent shot.....and an elevated shot at that. Wow....75 yards!!!!! The Starling NEVER expected that!!!!
-
Nice...that made your day .. .!!

Great Shot!... :emoticon: I'm just learning about what mine can Do, You said that you knew "exactly where to put the cross hairs". How many mildots did you hold over?
-
great shooting!

CitySniper - I don't have a mildot scope so I can't tell you how many mildots over. The scope on my Discovery has a duplex reticle. From lots of practice at every distance out to 100 yards, I know where I need to aim. For 70-75 yards, I put the part of the bottom post where it gets bigger, on the spot that I want to hit.
