: Cat gets 2 more

But this time I was on the trigger of the Gamo Big Cat so I didn’t mind too much this time. Stopped by the dairy on the way home from work, I haven’t been down there for a week or more and I noticed the birds didn’t seem as spooky as they have been in the past. I pulled up and parked in the regular spot and noticed that two different groups of trees held a few birds. I managed to get the gun loaded and the window rolled down and couldn’t believe that the close birds were still there.  I picked out a bird that was facing away from me and centered the cross hairs. At the shot this bird just dropped straight down and got hung up in the braches about 15 feet off the ground. When I moved my head away from the scope to reload the gun I was surprised to see that not one of the other birds flew away. I quickly loaded and prepared for a second shot, but I took to much time picking out the next bird and they all left just as I had made my decision. I then glanced over to the 36 yard tree and noticed 3 Starlings still sitting high up in the branches. I quickly made some AO adjustments and lined up for the shot, again I picked a bird facing straight away, aimed right at the back of his head and touched off the shot. Again this bird went straight for the ground without even twitching. I went and retrieved my two birds, both of which had landed in the water. Before leaving I walked across the street to the silage pits and missed an off hand shot a two Starlings standing side by side. But 2 clean kills in 3 shots is something I’ll take any day.

Oh I forgot to post about this one the other day. On Thursday I was walking out of the house to take my daughter to dance and noticed a Starling on the suet feeder. I loaded up the little Daisy PL 880 and waited for a clear shot. As I opened the door it spooked and flew up the tree a little and offered a clear shot, I centered the cross hairs and let the pellet fly. I heard the hit and saw the feathers fly, it fell from the tree and landed on the grass, looking alert as ever. Must have been another zombie Starling, as I was reloading for a finishing shot the bird started to cover some ground headed for the field across the street. I shot a second time and again watched the feathers fly, but the bird seemed to find another gear and started moving faster. It started across the road and was quickly stopped by what appeared to be a 97 Ford Bronco. Didn't bother with a photo op because after two hits from CPHP and one big hit from some kind of Goodyear it really wansn't photo worthy.

OM Gosh that is funny. :D  Kinda like poor Pozzumzilla surviving and entire year of me trying to get him and then failing to dodge a one ton auto

I hate roadkill, that is just one more critter, or potential critter I could have shot when the season rolls around.  :D

LOL!

Sometimes, you need a little help with those bastages. I'm reminded of the scene in Shaun of the Dead where the dude keeps "accidentally" hitting zombies.

Good shooti' with your Gamo Dave!  You're gonna have your guns all worn out with the number of starlings you're shooting. :D
