: New developments with the red fox in my yard..

I 'll start by saying that  I have not and probably will not post much in the next few months.  I am working 60-70hrs/wk and almost every weekend for this huge project, without any "comp" time or any days off.  So I 'm very tired all the time and got no time for anything else but work - it fricking sucks that I have become a complete corporate slave.  I think when the economy gets better my company will have a mass exodus of workers when people start finding other jobs.

Anyway, this fox I have now that is visiting very frequently has started barking no more than 30yds from my house in my back yard, usually between Midnight and 1am.  it disturbs my sleep and it can keep up the barking for 30 to 45min non-stop.  It's been doing it 3 nights in a row now and it's getting very annoying.  After 20min. I usually get up, open the window and shine my Mag lite at it (or the general direction cause I can't see it all the time) or "shoosh" a few times it and it stops.  I am pretty sure it' a mating call but this also tells me that her/his den is somewhere very close, perhaps in my backyard.  I have a pretty good idea.  Where the border of my property along the neighbor's fence, there is some thick brush there and I think her den is in the ground there somewhere but on the neighbor's side.

Anyway, if this keeps up a few more nights, I may have to put a permanent end to it... I had it on my sights again a couple of nights ago when it came to eat cat food and I let it go for the 2nd time.  I don't know what I might do next time if she keeps waking me up with her loud barking. I 'd hate to shoot a fox out of season, but it is becoming a pest.  I guess that's what happens when you put food in your backyard for 2yrs.  Night critters start moving in and getting comfortable.  I know at least 1-2 skunks live in the old Groundhog holes.  I see them go in and out of them all the time now.  Too bad a couple of coons or coyotes don't move in.  The fox is welcomed and I 'm hoping she will have a litter soon - as long as she doesn't wake me up every night..

This is probably the extend of my posting for the week.  Maybe Sunday again if I 'm not too tired.. this really sucks.
