My new TF69 Contender arrived today and I can't wait to try it. I had it tuned by Mike Melick before it was sent to me..according to Mike, "it turned out nice with a good solid thump when fired" so it sounds like I'm on the right track. All I have to do now is figure out which pellets she likes. Mine's a .22, and since I know a few of you have this rifle in that caliber, I was hoping to get some suggestions about that. Would you let me know what you use and what your gun likes best? I realize different guns digest different pellets but surely there's some common ammo. Ideas, anyone? Thanks

Congrats on the new shooter. Did you happen to typo TF69? If it' a 59 in .22 I had one for about a year before a friend talked me out of it. It also was a good shooter after a tune and a gold trigger. It shot CHP's and Peak dome pellets from Archer Air Guns the best. For lower velocity medium power rifles IMO the Peak pellets are a real bargain and quite accurate but they seem to leave a bit to be desired when the muzzle velocity starts to get to the 650 and above range.

My bad, Walt. I DID make a wrong key-strike It's a TF89. Thanks for pointing it out to me. Guess I got excited. This is the first Tech Force rifle I've owned. I just received it today so I have a lot to do before I feel it's ready for the varmints.

Don't have one of those but I've seen several posts. Lot of people really like them. Quite the powerhouse also. Have fun with it.

Overall I like this gun. I reworked the trigger and adjusted it to where I really like it. Out of the 20+ types I've tried, some were horrid, some were OK but all the RWS pellets shot the best by far.
Keep in mind this gun is very hold-sensitive. Hopefully the tune decreases this. This gun shoots hard but is very hold sensitive. Mine averaged 840fps with H-points with the stock spring, which broke after 5000- 6000 shots. It now has a new Beeman spring that seems to be a little more powerful. Still very hold sensitive.

Congrats on the TF 89. I really like mine! My wifey bought it for me for Christmas. I did a little home lubrication and managed not to ruin it like I have the others I've attempted. They really like the RWS pellets. The superdomes and the RWS hollowpoints shoot great in mine. The Predators and CPHPs not as well but acceptable.
Can't wait to SEE THE PICTURES :D

I'll try this again, first post disappeared...I haven't had much time to try the TF89. Bad weather and week-end visitors have slowed my shooting way down. I was able to fire a few rounds through it with mixed results. The RWS Superdomes didn't do too well..printing very loosely. Better luck with CP domes....quarter sized groups at 25 yards. Then they started hitting all over the place. Stock and mount screws were all all snugged up so I figured the scope was bad...until I checked the ring screws. Several of them were very loose, almost as though they were stripping out, could not be tightened. It's a one - piece mount so that surprised me. That shut me down until a new one arrives, hopefully tomorrow. Maybe then I can start finding out what this rifle is capable of doing. By the way, have any of you had issues with that so-called scope stop? Any ideas about a stop that'll work on this gun?
A final point...I have no idea how to post photos on this forum. I assume one needs a digital camera for starters and after that, I have no clue how to up-load or down-load pictures on the site.

My TF loved RWS Superdomes, CPHPs and the CP magnums. I have to say it really surprised me how accurate it was but didn't like the 6-24x44 Techforce scope I had on mine. It was just okay a bit milky though. Mine was a powerhouse shooting 14.4 at 830-840 fps which is in the 22 FPE range! Plenty of power. I got the trigger set up pretty nice too.
Unfortunately/fortunately my buddy needed a .22 for hunting so I sold it to him for a song. Well he's happy and I am for him but I miss that TF89. Oh well probably better suited for him since he's 6'2" and I'm 5'7". This was a bit of a bigger gun and not an all day plinker. Still a bit smaller than a RWS350/B28 but those aren't for all day plinking.

Congrads Larry, Once you find "the" pellet for your rifle, you'll really be tickled!!!! With a tune, and a solid one piece mount, I doubt a scope stop will be neccesary. How does it shoot with the irons? Just wait untill you get a few K's through it, most if not all Springers seem to get better once they're well broken in. Best Wishes, tjk

If it wasnt for my stronger shooters i would had have one already cause i here so many positive things about it .Maybe one day someone will sell one and if i have the chance and cash maybe i could be quick on the purchase button...jorge
