I just finished installing the Maccari kit ( http://www.airrifleheadquarters.com/catalog/item/251488/7718385.htm) on my Big Cat and now I am unable to get it cocked. I believe I am having the same type of problem as this member(http://www.gatewaytoairguns.com/airguns/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=26160&mid=206857#M206857), however I'm not sure. I'm relatively new to airgun tuning and this is my first time rebuilding a springer. Took down and re-assembled according to Charlie's (or it it Bob?) B18/B19 Super-Tune guide (http://charliedatuna.com/Airgun%20Info.htm). I'm at my wits end...don't what i'm doing wrong. I know its got to be sooo simple. Anyone's help is greatly appreciated, as the weather is finally getting nice and my trigger finger is developing a rather nasty rash...lol.

Take it back apart, and try again. You may not have the spring seated on the top hat correctly. What I meen is the spring end may be sitting on the end of the TH and not on the collar. I know it sounds crazy, but sometimes wierd things happen when reassembling these shooters. I always place the top hat on the spring and slide it along with the spring guide and shoe into the action as a single unit. Hope this helps, tjk

tjk...thanks for your reply!...still banging my head here..lol. I guess thats possible. It dosent seem like the cocking foot is even engaging the spring. There no resistance when I cock the gun at all until the last maybye 10% of cocking arm travel, and even then, it's next to nothing. I guess I'll try taking it back apart like you said...thanks tjk. Anyone else with advice is GREATLY appreciated!

Attach a picture of the cocking lever, shoe and cocking slotarea. Need to see if it's engaging the piston at all.

The spring on the out side of your trigger assembly should be on the inside. The first pic shows the spring running up the out side. I don't know if that would effect the way it functions but might.

My problem was the tab under the rear of the trigger assembly, yours looks ok. But I do agree with djmyers that the spring on the cocking slide is on the outside and should be on the inside of the slide. Don't know if this is the problem.

GTA members. Does this sound like the cocking lever shoe is not engaging the slot in the piston properly? Or at all. Could piston slot be mis-aligned?

That piston slot being mis-aligned sounds like a likely culprit....

That's why I asked for a picture of the shoe & slot area.

check out your bottom photo the piston is rotated to one side only revieving half the cocking slot there for your cocking shoe, lever whatever is not in the correct spot.

Don't forget to reinstall the "E" clip on the slotted pin that holds the slotted cocking slide AFTER you move the spring back to the underside of it.

Allright guys...think i've got it narrowed down. Ezman604 and Shady816 have sharp eyes...I think I have the cocking lever in the wrong spot, but still not 100% sure. Here are the pics you guys asked for. Please let me know your verdict so I can get this bi*ch back together! I honestly appreciate everyones generosity...this forum is AMAZING!
P.S. Where can I get spare E-clips...I broke that missing one :0

hi bucky from where you are now try and hold the lever tight to the tube and start cocking it paying close attention to the where the lever starts to grab the piston it will probubly be self explainitory when you see it but as for the piston seems to be rotated around correctly for what i see.

Check your linkage roller bearing and make sure it's on the pin of the secondary linkage arm. Your rifle butilizes what is called an "articulated" cocking arm,...that is two levers working in unison. Without the roller bearing, the foot at the bottum of the cocking arm,... Where it pushes the piston back,...may in fact be sliding past the pistons cockinf contact area of the slot. Not very likely, but like I said before,.. sometimes weird things just happen!!! LOL's. Whatever happens in the next few hours, just relax and don't get excited!!! At least not too much!! tjk

If you have one around, check with Harbor Freight orFastenal for an e-clip. Also check AutoZone or other auto partsstore for one but they probably don't carry any that small. Harbor Freight does for sure.
Are you trying to cock the gun with it still out of the stock? If so, then what the guys are saying about thecocking lever and the roller is true. Theupper section of the cocking lever has to stay more parallel with the barrel through the cocking cycle. The stock helpshold it in this position instead of pivoting outward and preventing the cocking lever from pushing on the piston to cock it.
Also one thing thatbothers me but MAY just be my eyes playinga trick on me. The spring pressure SHOULDbepushing the piston firmly against the cocking shoe. It appears from the picture to have a gap between the shoe and the piston cocking slot, indicating no preload from the spring. May justbe me though. Let us know.

Loosen the 10 MM trigger assembly bolt and wiggle the tab from side to side and make sure the trigger assembly is sitting flat on the tab, this was my problem when I could not cock mine. I would not try to cock it without the stock back in place.

Tjk...I think you may be on to something...could you direct me to a pic of exactly what you are talking about?!? Also, looking at these pics,(http://www.gatewaytoairguns.com/airguns/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=26585&mid=210026#M210026),it seems to me that the cocking foot needs to somehow be put in that gap between the two silver areas on the piston?....What do you think?

Brandon, the cocking foot does not go in the first opening. That one is for the trigger sear to catch in when cocked. The second opening is where the cocking shoe engages.

Regarding the beartrap link return spring. It does not matter if the spring is in the inside or the outside. I will not have any adverse impact on the gun and a good many of the Theoben/Gamo trigger do have them on the outside.
