I've got TONS of them along with small frogs throughout my backyard. I use the frogs as fish bait. Can the same thing be done with black salamanders???
-
Can we say, Bass Bait?
They should work great.
-
Give them a try. Bass love them down here in the South. But them California bass.........they may not like them.
-
I've used them for Pike, Bass and even river fishing for trout and Steelhead, fish can't resist a live bait. Ed

I've used rubber salamanders for bass plenty of times in the local lakes and they work very well, especially when I walk them across the lilly pad rafts :)

Thanks guys. I figued they might be able to be used as bait. Just didn't know what they'd attract! I'm goin out to the delta this weekend. Hopefully the striped bass like em!
Bill, i'v never heard of anyone eating salamanders! When I was a kid my dad told me their blood is poisonous. Maybe it was just to scare me outta bringin em in the house hahahaha.
The frogs I've got might get bigger if I stopped usin them as bait and the dogs stopped eatin em! I had a few good sized hoppers last year. Made for some goooooood immitation chicken wings. The wife and kids didn't even know till she found the skins and heads in the green can hehe.

Yeah... Not to her hehe. It's was the second time I had done that type of thing. The first time I had set the crock pot to slow cook some squirrel stew while I was at work. When I got home, my daughter, wife & mother in law were chowin down on squirrel over rice. They told me "Oh it's so GOOOD! Where'd you get chickens this small???" I told them to hold on a sec and pulled my drying board outta the garage with 5 squirrel skins stretched out on in. I looked at my mother in law and said, "Them ain't chickens ma." That was 3 years ago and my mother in law STILL won't trust my cooking! hahahahahaha
My wife & her family are from Nicaragua and don't quite agree with my North Eastern Oklahoma menu! Oh well... More for me and the kids!!! :D
