: Introduction of myself
: Tyger April 02, 2010, 11:04:14 PM

Hello to all. I am new to airgunning, and have been reading this forum. I have gleaned much, and sincerely appreciate this resource.

This target was shot with open sights, and things were quite blurry for me, so theclusters probably reflect my shooting skills, not the pellets (CPHP), not the gun. However, grouping has occured on other targets that I have shot with this gun/pellet, and I am thinking that maybe there is pellet variation and that this variation could reveal itself in clusters, but I am new to this and really don't know if that is the case, or if it is just some happenstance.

Thanks Cactusrat.  I have posted from my photo files; however, I have not been able to link through Photobucket.  I will have to try again.

Truman, the pellets that I used were Crosman Premier Hollow Points (CPHP).  I have not seen a difference between the way this gun shoots the CPHP and RWS Superdomes; however, I will re-evaluate pellets once I get the GRT trigger and TurboTune by Gene Curtis.

The squirrels are litterally killing my southern hophornbeam by twigging it for the buds.  I just had to reduce the population, and this gun has allowed me to do just that.  5 of 6 squirrels were dead instantly, one required a second shot.

I am impressed as to the killing power of this .177, and look forward to improving my airgun shooting abilities.

OK TheKnot- here is the GAMO. Notice that I have rigged a GPS unit to the gun so that I can send pellets to pre-determined coordinates. Just joking. I am drivingto Gene Curtis' Monday morning to deliver the gun for TurboTuning with GRTIII replacement.

Tyger,     Becareful driving in S.C.     Especially if you have Georgia plates.   I wish I could tell you the number of "speeding" tickets that have been awarded to me in that state.

If you travell the Interstates it is safer.   But watch out anywhere else.    Last April I got a ticket for $239.  Charge was 35 mph in a 10 mph zone.   In the middle of nowhere.   I just sent a money order and never contested the ticket.  I did not trust them with a credit card or even a personal check.   And there was a 10mph sign....in a ditch behind a pile of gravel.

Needless to say....

Tyger welcome to the forum. Great bunch of guys here, with a ton of knowledge and always willing to share what they know. I've learned a ton just from reading and I've asked my share of questions. These guys here are great.

Bogey, the only speeding ticket I ever got in my LIFE was in SC, Sunday morning 8 AM, nobody on the road except a state trooper, outside of Calhoun Falls- the middle of nowhere. What can I say, except that I wish troopers would concentrate on something a little more important than a guy going 8 MPH over the limit on an openroad with idealdriving conditions. Of course, I realize the fact: money collection is now one of their most motivating efforts. Too bad, But it is a fact.

A big welcome to the GTA forum and family.  Great shooting at those nutters with your Whisper.  BTW....CPHPs are funny....or should I say abit inconsistant.....they can be very good or abit iffy.  Out of some of my air rifles....I can get 7 excellent shots out of 10....they other 3 are flyers.  I think their skirts are abit hard so it doesn't expand nicely to seal up the bore....

Thanks to all for the warm welcome to the forum.

With what little experience I have so far, I know now that when I put a loose fitting pellet into my gun, it will not pierce the target in the black. It will not group with the others.

Hello Tyger,

This place has a wealth of knowledge along with very interesting hunting accounts told by folks from all walks of life. Very diverse group of folks for sure with plenty of experts around. Welcome and have a blast.

By the way, your avatar caught my eye. I assume some of your time is consumed by blacksmithing. In recent years, I have picked up blacksmithing as one of my many hobbies and find it very rewarding.

I cannotsay that I am a blacksmith; however, I do try to use some of those technicswhen making my belt bucklesand other jewlery. This is the Chi Rho, pewter on brass, 3.5 inches diameter, copyright 2009:
