gerald,
I knew this had come up recently. Here's the info posted by member "chortdraw" that Bob (CDT) sent him for his Whisper.
"........Bob sent me this info. when I wanted to tune my Whisper 177. E-3650 SPRING / APEX SEAL-apv 65798 / heavy TAR-lht 432 / Moly-MM657.
You may want to compress the spring once to make it easier to install by using some threaded rod and nuts and washers. Everything fit and worked nicely. Have fun. ......"
Here's the thread it's in;

In case your ordering a seal too. Bob mentions the Apex seal above, but my 22 Whisper would only fit the smaller Tesla seal.
Like you I contacted JM and because there can be a wide range of bore sizes Jim recommended getting his "New-Bam,Gamo,Tx200 Problem Solver Seals" set.
The small Apex seal mentioned above, that worked well in chortdraw's Whisper, also comes in Marccari's two seal set, but was too large for the undersized bore of my Whisper. The Tesla seal was a better fit for my gun.

35coils - .120" wire and ID= .515" This spring is typically used as a replacement for a stock Gamo spring in most all 1000 fps springers. Fits stock Gamo spring guides.

I used the E3650 in Gamo, Quest, Summit, etc. with small Apex. Gives a nice smoother cycle than stock if not somewhat less power due to coil count (?)
I've used the Tarantula in same series of rifles. More power. However, IIRC without going through my notebook, The Tarantula has slightly bigger ID. Fits sloppy on the Delrin guides from Crosman. Somewhere along the line Crosman switched to steel rear guides (?) which fit the Tarantula better. Or possibly they started with steel and went to Delrin. Anybody else experience that? Also, I know the Tarantula has biggger wire and again IIRC bigger OD. When I've used the Tarantula I've had to fit the cocking shoe because it will drag.
My personal recommendation is E3650. Who needs more power? E3650 expect a mid 12-13 FPE result or about 850 fps with 7.9gr. I feel this is the perfect power range for these rifles. Nice and smooth and fits the platform well. If you want more power I'd recommend going to a TF89, B28 or B21/30 (I like the Chinese rifles!). I feel you need a bit heavier rifle to balance the power and the Gamos are too light. But my guess is if you want more power you'd be best off going with .22. If just plinking .17 in this range is hard to beat. Flatter shooting, cheaper pellets and the smaller hole doesn't obliterate your target as fast. Yes, I'm primarily a paper puncher!
