They eat wild berries and fruit.  Something about them that most people don't know is that they are very good at climbing trees.  I've seen them climb up into the branches of apple and mullberry trees to get at the fruit.  I shot one once while he was stretched out on a large limb of a mullberry tree 15 feet up stuffing ripe mullberries into his mouth.   :)

They also love just about any vegetable you grow in your garden  :)

thank you for the info i didnt know they climbed trees.i have two old wood sheds in my yard and a few years ago there was a huge ghog that lived under it but i took him out with my mathews q2xl i didnt have an airgun strong enough at the time.this morning i noticed a big pile of fresh dug up dirt in front of one of the shed so i guess a new is going to be hanging around until it meets a polymag out of the mrod.

Good hunting and make sure you post the hunt details and pics here in the Hunting Gate  :)

BTW.... they're quite tasty..... I eat all the ones I shoot.  The younger ones are especially good fried like rabbit or squirrel, the older ones are prime candidates for slow cooking methods like pot roast... If you've never tried them think about giving it a try.....   :)

Jeff,
I think eating Chucks will be a better sell if you could do a post of the A-Z of skinning, cleaning, and any other prep you do before the Chuck hits the pot. I haven't been able to find anything in detail about Chucks, either in my wild game cook book, or on the internet, like there is for other game animals.

The shooting and the eating parts I'm good at, details of what to do in between that I'm lacking.  :D  :D
Maybe the same for others !

Paul.
