I sure do !

But I gave up my plans for the BIG 5, many years ago !

I decided that I did not wish to kill Elephant, Hippo's or the Big Cats ! That doesn't leave too much lol

So I do not believe that I will be going to Africa all too soon !

My Big 5 now are Raccoons, Possums, Squirrels, Chipmunks and Grackles :o

And I have been successful with them many times ! :p

Nice article though !!!!!

Gene did you see that Randy sells the Gargole big bore air rifles that are made in a small shop here in the USA. And I might add . I wonder how many of us in our youth dreamed that we would one day go to Africa with our trusty air rifles and go on a safari hunt .Marvin

I was lucky enough to see all Big 5 in the Krueger, not on a hunting trip (duh). I don't think I own a gun, much less an AG, that I would point at any one of them, except the leopard. That was the one I was least inclined to shoot, although if I was a landowner there it would be a different story. You can't really see one of those elephants and want to shoot it, IMO, and I am not considered a "softie" by any stretch.

The Rhino is the "other" one. OMG I definitely wouldn't tackle one of those with my deer guns! I know they are taken but I was too close to some, and that is time to back off and call for an air strike.

But the ruminants... they have more deer-like critters that taste good than any place on earth. Impala, Springboek, Eland, Kudu, Wildebeest (no pushover there) and even the little dyk-dyks... ca-riminey. I didn't hunt but I would love to go to Namibia sometime and have a go at some of these (not the dyk-dyks). I would try many of them with the Dragon Slayer, given the opportunity. I am a meat hunter and there is a lot of meat running around that part of the world. Amazing place, highly recommended.

Not a big fanof killing Monkeys

Those are all pretty close range shots. I wonder if it was like some of the private Texas hunting ranch setups? 510 grains at 650fps might appear to be a universal death warrant, but my .58 Zouave shoots the standard military load of 510 grains at about 950fps. My .54 double will throw the same weight at about 1300fps (but I ain't gonna stand behind it when it does.)

I agree about passing up monkeys. I once worked with a guy from Trinidad and his father was a butcher in the islands. Someone asked if it was true that people there ate monkey meat? He just slowly shook his head and said "No. Too close." :emoticon:
