Rifle Range - Read before Watching
This guy is shooting a 50 CAL. Watch the dust when he fires. The target is a steel plate, 1000 yards away. You can hear the ping of the hit, and then the bullet comes back and hits the ground just in front of his position, then tumbles up hitting the earmuffs, knocking them off of his head. The footage is amazing. You can hear the bullet as it tumbles through the air on its course back toward the shooter.
He's lucky it hit the dirt first. He is okay, and obviously very lucky.
The bullet grazed his temple. What a difference a half an inch makes!
Sorry, I couldn't attach the wave file to this post. But you get the idea of what happened here.

Color me skeptical. 1000 yard return of a fired round? After it hit a steel plate? I don't doubt you Butch, but did this actually happen the way they said it did? Something else may have been involved here.

I've seen that clip. Yes, he did get hit by the ricochet, but I don't recall it being 1,000 yards away. That is over one-half mile. More like a couple hundred yards. A freak accident but also quite foolish, shooting a steel plate with a FMJ round at, for the 50BMG, short range. I believe he might have been a candidate for that year's Darwin Award.

It was a 100yd darwin shot (http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-surprised.gif)

I couldn't see the target. Thought it was the little white thing on the hill (more than a hundred yards) but he seems to be pointing well to the right.

Thanks Dave
That's the clip of what I had.
