well I made the trade of my AR6 pistol
I got a Factory refuebed 48 and 850 AIRmagnum both scoped and in .22 cal for it
the 48 the guy shot it around 100 shots and had a 4-12 Baraska scope on it
Is the 48 a nice gun?
Should i do anything to it other than shoot it
What is a decent pellet for it?
and what kind of velocity should i see with it?
I am also thinking of getting into FT a bit is this gun capable of FT play?
sorry for all the questions, just never ad a rws befor
My last springer was a Gamo Extreme tuned by ^*^()(%*^$%^)()(&( and Had a GRT 3 trigger it was a 30 fpe beast and deadly accurate to boot,
how is the accuracy of the 48's? and is it capable of nailing donw starlings at 50?
thanks alot guys ill post some pics also when i get it later on this week

I have an RWS 48 in 0.22 caliber and shoot it open sight because it shoots hard and damaged few scopes before. My RWS 48 is very accurate and powerful. I do not have any numbers but no rabbit was able to escape from my RWS 48 from whatever distance I shot it. I did not do any work on it, just shoot it until breaks-in. It likes most RWS brand pellets (Super dom, Hollow point, Meisterkuglen), and recently I started using JSB exact (16 gr) with very accurate shots. It is up to ant task you give her.

I have a 48 in .22cal and love the rifle, you might want to lube the spring and piston seal and debure the parts other than that just shoot it, do yourself a favor and get a Leapers 3x9x40 scope and a UTG mount and rings for the rifle the Barska wont last long on that rifle, my rifle isan't to pellet fussy but I shoot cphp's 14.3's and crossman copper heads pointed pellets 14.3's and dont have any problems taking wabbits out past 100yds with this combo in this gun! I'm getting an ave of 820fps with these pellets, I have been starting to shoot the Air Arms 16gr pellets and still getting an ave of 780fps and thier dead nuts accurate at 30yds one hole groups with these pellets as well so can't say enough good things about this gun about the only other thing you could do is tune the trigger, makes accuracy even better especialy at longer ranges and yes I've poped many a crow with this rifle at long ranges 75+yds so thier capable of doing what ever you want to do with them with in thier ability's and for a spring gun thats alot!

I have a .20 cal and it is a very nice gun. As long as the internals aren't dry, you shouldn't have to do much to it. My velocities won't be too relevant to your .22 but they are hard shooters.
Like the other poster I currently shoot mine open sights. Just haven't got around to glass for this one.
I think it would be good enough to start out in FT. I don't compete but I follow it, maybe someday if time permits. However, you will be spending a lot more on mount and glassfor FT, and the Centerpoint won't do it. If you enjoy FT you will probably end up with a fancier gun in the long run.
This gun is notoriously hard on scopes and there are mounts made just for it-spend a lot on that. Then look at the scopes people are using at FT matches. You are going to be using the scope for range finding, and side focus is the way to go.

the gun already has a one piece BKL mount
i am saving up for a Hawke airmax now

Josh u have made a very intelligent move for sure and those r one of the best magnum springers i have shot out the box ,i had the .22 also and i should of never sold it but i got a 350m.22 and a b30.22 which is a clone .Josh a bit heavy but well balanced mine loved the rws domed and super-h-point .....jorge

I am a big Airmax fan, but they are not enough for serious FT.
I have one Eclipse side focus, and love it. The FT guys often use the Sidewinder.

Like Dave I also have the 48 in .10 caliber and I can't say enough good things about the rifle. It's an extremely hard hitter and very accurate with the right pellets. Even though it's a heavy gun it just feels good to me and if you install a set of sling swivels on it, which is very easy to do on this rifle, the weight issue for long hunts is no longer a concern. I also like the length of the rifle for hunting. Overall I think the 48 is one of the nicest magnum springers out there.
