: S1K Make Over.........
: Gene_SC April 23, 2007, 11:40:35 PM
Here is one of my S1K's with a muzzle brake and barrel shroud.. Made from Delrin and PVC ... It is made in three pieces.. brake, shroud and insert in the back by the breech to hold the shroud.. On this one, it is all press fit.. No screws..:) But it would be hard to take on and off as well. I was trying to see how close I could get the fit on the barrel.. I was able to achieve what I was hoping for and that was a good fit though machining these parts with 0 tolerance..:)

Hay Gene,

Doin some fine lookin work there !!! what affects do these have on your shooter ? :p

Does it make it any easier to cock ?

It sure dresses up your baby though !!

On this particular S1K, Bill, it is only a 14 inch barrel. A custom L/W Choked barrel and it does not make much of a difference when cocking other than it is bigger around than the stock barrel.. Feels better..:) But I am gonna make a aluminum muzzle brake for one of my other S1K's whch will be a couple inches longer and it will make it easier.. I have long arms so it won't matter if I add a couple inches..:) And yes that will make it alot easier to cock then..:)

You have an unfair advantage, you can still see your garage floor.  Go get into your nuts and bolts containers, open them up, shake them randomly around your garage, then go get a couple 2x4's, sand them until they are just dust with a belt sander, then spread all of your tools around your bench....oh, and smear Moly grease on everything you own, especially the light switches to and from your garage, that will really please your wife:)  Once you've done all of that, then try making something with your lathe........some guys and their unfair advantages.....geez, that's it Gene, send me your lathe before someone gets hurt:)

LOL Dano, The garage was pretty dirty when I took those pictures.. hehe.. Had just got my camera back and did not want to clean up first.. I am pretty clumsy Dano and if I had all that on the floor I would probably be in a wheel chair.. :(  But I will work on it for ya..hehe

If nothing else at least rip a whole bunch of 2x4's down to length with a compound mitre saw, but leave the dust bag not attached and just let the wood chips fly!!!!!!!

Hi Gene;

I remember someone quoting Kalishnikoff about things that are usefull and those that are not; I regret that I can't recall the exact words, but he used to say that simple things are those that are really usefull while complicated things are useless. Go figure it out!!
Your S1K looks great ; Just as good as the new shrouded Gamo barrels , maybe better. Then again; I'm certainly no expert, but it's  simple, inexpensive and a very ingenious approach. Quite an impressive looking mod!
