: Head-Shots on moving targes
: Sniperdad69 April 18, 2010, 03:46:55 PM
I had this problem with Carpenter Bees, eating my house, so I took out 30+ of them at ground level with the Badminton racket, but how to get the ones up at the roof line?

Well shoot them of course.

Cheers, David.

Nice shooting!!!

If a 1" group at 100 yards is MOA, what is shooting the heads off of bees?  MOB?? :emoticon:

What kind of pistol is that?

Holy cow to shoot a bee is awesome to begin with and then you do it with a pistol! great shooting!
: It is a Dasiy 747 Target pistol.
: Sniperdad69 April 18, 2010, 04:03:07 PM
I have used my R-7 before, but the pistol is much better for moving targets.

Cheers, david.

All incredible shots at those bees......amazing feat at shooting at their heads and with a pistol too.
: Thanks, Guys. It's realy not that hard, just practice.
: Sniperdad69 April 19, 2010, 12:01:12 PM
If you get good with a pistol, through practice, it eventually becomes part of your body.
It is like pointing your finger at something. The sights are out of focus, as you are looking at the target, not the sights.
Concentrate on the Bug, not the gun and keep shooting. I only got one in ten shots.
I was not aiming for the heads, I didn't find any with the head still on it. All the body shots were lost in the woods that are only a few feet from the house, if it hit the head, then the bug simply dropped close to the house, and I found the six I photographed.

Keep shootin.

Cheers, david.

PS, the holes from the Carpenter Bees are huge in comparison to the small dents from a Wad-cutter @ 420fps.

That was me.(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-cool.gif) http://www.gatewaytoairguns.com/airguns/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=16033&posts=22&highlight=carpenter&highlightmode=1#M131518 (http://thread-view.asp?tid=16033&posts=22&highlight=carpenter&highlightmode=1#M131518)

Before anyone calls Bull Crap, let me tell you what Just happened,
and  this is not a late April Fools joke.

About  a year and a half  ago, before I realized I was too old for paint ball fights anymore,
I  bought two KWC TAURUS look alike  airsoft Pistols.

Airsoft guns  are basically spring or co2 action bb guns that shoot a 6mm plastic BB.
I  bought one for me and one for my oldest 9 year old son (at the  time).
We wanted to play, but before we started, I wanted us  both to know how it felt to be shot.

We both loaded up our  pistols, put on our eye protection and backed up about 15 feet from
each  other in the living room.  My wife was setting on a chair at the  kitchen Pc watching all this.
I instructed my son where we would  shoot each other.
I CAREFULLY instructed, "aim at dadys chest, I'll  do the same with you".
I didn't want a crotch shot.!!! Ok, I know  your shaking your heads saying , "you dumb redneck".

Anyway, the  moment came and on the count of three, you  heard pling pling and an  almost instantaneous
TWAP Twaps. Next you see, dad and son both on  the ground holding our chests. Crap that hurts..
Yes, we were both  wearing T-shirts!!  I swear it  felt like a bee hit me. We had a welp  for a long time and
a mark for over a week.  (NEVER TRY THIS  AT HOME)!!!!!!

Ok, with lesson learned, we had fun for  many days with these pistols.

Now for todays shooting.

I  was wanting to go out and shoot the disco today when I got home. It has  been raining around here
FOREVR, but now the sun was out. Only  problem is, I still don't have those barrel bands yet..
I was  standing at the front glass door looking out, dreaming about shooting  when something caught my eyes.
I have carpenter  bees flying around my front porch. My mind went back to those pistols  and I though, that should be
hard to do. I loaded up the 20+ round  clip and went out and stood. Here they came back around,
one was  fling about 3 feet in front of me. Dang those little buggers are zippy.
It  took me 4 shots but I caught him on the last pass.
I saw it when it  hit him. "THATS A HEAD SHOT", I thought to my self.
"Man I have to  go post this on GTA".

It then dawned on me, "ain't no one going to  believe you with out proof". Back out on the porch I went
and  started looking for the body. I saw him when he went down. I remember  him spinning down to the left
under the bush. Great, heavy foliage,  just what I need.....

After about 5 minutes I found him. His  body was kinda twithcing. All I could see was his back and wings.
He  went down head first. I used a stick and pulled him back from under some  leafs. Yep he was dead, just twitching.
I picked him up by a leg and  looked at him. I was right, Head Shot. He didn't even have a head
after I hit him with that heavy big bore, 6mm, plastic .20gram Crosman  bb!! (http://../images/emoticons/bleh.gif)

Ok, now for the part you have all been  waiting for, PICTURES.....
Ain't she a beaute ????

: Thanks, Shadow shot. I had not seen that post.
: Sniperdad69 April 20, 2010, 02:44:29 PM
I am glad that I have seen it now.
All but the part about the bee actually hitting the BB.
Here I thought we were just that good a marksman.

Cheerd, David.

: ShadowShot April 20, 2010, 02:54:53 PM

Don't let it knock the air out of your sail. It's still fun and you still have to hit them. If you ain't close, they wont fly into it anyway.
I still believe you hit em. A BB goes much faster than that airsoft gun I was using.
