Has anyone tried one of these? What kinda results are you getting?
Marauder Regulator (http://www.network54.com/Forum/79574/thread/1271719596/back+on+stock%2C+MARAUDER+REGULATORS!)
-
how does that even install? how many more shots can u get?
-
Im thinking about doing it but I want some feed back first. Looks like an easy enough install. I depinged my Marauder with a piece of 1.25 high pressure black hose. It was very easy to do and made the rifle much nicer to shoot. If this will help with the consistency and is worth it, I might do this also.

I'm sure you will actually lose a few shots as the regulator takes up some of the reservoir space. What you will be gaining is a very flat velocity spread. Your velocity will also be down a bit because of the limited volume of regulated air the valve can dump. A stock Marauder has the whole reservoir for the valve to feed from. You can buy a reservoir extension that will gain the volume back plus some. Should be good for about 60 very consistant shots. Personally, I would install the regulator as far forward as possible, leaving a larger regulated chamber in front of the valve and install a reservoir extension. Best of both worlds.

I have used one. Too simple to install:
http://www.airgunadvice.net/viewtopic.php?t=13340
If you remove the air gauge & block (that the gauge screws into inside the tube) you loose no air volume. I tried it in a .177 Marauder just today 905fps +/- 9fps for 60 + shots off 3000psi. As FT is my thing this would be just fine with me. It is adjustable, simply screw the knob on the front of reg (naturally it must be out of the rifle) to adjust, "5 minutes -(on a clock?)- eguals 10bar of adjustment. If you use .22 and follow the simple one page directions you can get 60 shots at 25-26fpe with the same 10fps max spread, likely you can boost it a bit higher if that is your thing.
So a stock Marauder(.22) may get 30 shots at 25fpe with a 40fps spread and with the reg you would get 60 shots with a 10fps spread. The batch that came in last week is sold out (I believe) so you might want to email Vincent saying you want one from the next batch.
I hear they work very well in the AA rifles as well as the Monsoon. He can also get them for other airguns and is a pleasure to deal with.

Did you put the air gauge and block back or is it completely removed?
-
Shadow,
I left the air block&gauge out using the factory hole to vent the reg. It comes with a great one page instruction sheet which I had intended to follow but I get 905fps (=/-9fps) for 6 + clips in .177 with it just dropped in. Vincent is super fast in bussiness deals, I sent a M/O from TN and had the reg in my hands four days later. I still plan on adjusting it just to see what it does but have been having to much fun to stip it down right now.

Does anyone have figures on .22 and can it be adjusted to 930 range?(for Marauder) does the metering screw come into play on adjustments?Sounds like a worthwhile item for consistant and longer strings(hate pumping)
-
The .22 Mrod Shoots 14.3 grains in the low 900's without adjustments....So the answer to your questions is yes
And I honestly can't give you numbers from my Mrod because I don't have a chrony yet. However That didn't stop me from adjusting my Gun
My Metering screw is turned 3.25 turns counterclockwise from fully closed
My hammer Tension is 1 full turn clockwise from full tension
My stroke length Is 1 turn clockwise from full length.
I just copied this setup from someone who posted their shot string on the yellow, and they were getting 30 fpe. I can honestly say this thing shoots hard, and I pretty much need a need back stop.

Dont get one. Mine may have been a dude but it did not regulate it like they said it would. I took it out and put everything back like it was. Now after degassing the marauder, something is broke. I just about couldn't get it charged back up. It would just blow air through it. I finally opened the valve on my tank quickly and and it finally sealed. Only problem, I can cock it but I cant get it to fire. waiting to hear back from Crosman.

What numbers did you get? Or what did it not do?

(19) 741.2
(20) 743.2 27 spread on second 10 shots and got worse as it went.
This was a preset 130bar/1800psi regulator. Tank filled to 2600psi.
No changes to hammer, spring or meter.
I Called Vince and spoke with him. I shortened the hammer throw, lossened the spring tension and opened the metering screw all the way.
The best fps I got out of that was 800 fps and dropping with the same results. I took it back out. I was getting better with the way I had it set.

Further update. It was not the regulators fault that the sear broke. That happened when I degassed it.
-
it certainly does not seem to be working. One the one I tested the hammer .... settings made no difference. Please let us know how this is handled from the dealer.

Does putting this in my Marauder make sense? This is why.
How high am I going to charge my M-rod ? Am I going to go above 3000psi?
Is it adjustable? the output is 95 bar with 260 in. (3770psi)
What is the output with 200 bar input?
OK lets say the output is 100 bar, That is 1500psi, So my gun gauge will show 1500psi and that is what my firing valve will see.
Can I tune my M-rod to shoot the way it shoots now with 1500psi ?
I don't think so....
Here is the video from the guy who sells it:

Im sorry Rick, but your responce seemed kinda snarky to me. May be you didnt mean it that way.
If it works as it should, it would make great sense. As I stated, mine might just be a dud. As for the initial review, my advise for my GTA family here is not to get one until I get it worked out. We take care of each other here. I am sure Vince will help me out with it. I have spoken to him on the phone and he seems like a great guy. The valve is no reflection on him. There might be something I can do without having to mod the rifle to much.
In the letter and instructions I received from him, there was one guy who was getting 50 shots at around 29 fpe. He had to mod his valve and drill a hole in the pressure tube to keep the manometer installed. He had drilled out his barrel port, transfer port, valve exhaust port, valve chamber and open up the port after the valve a little. Another guy on another forum was getting a 9fps spread in his shot string using a 130 bar reg. Vince was getting a 50 shot string 26/27 fpe with minor valve modifications. In a 20 shot string starting at 2600 psi I was getting a 32+ fps spread with a 18fpe ave with cphps. I had my rife set up prior to the reg and was getting a 13fps spread with a 824fps/22fpe ave spread, so yes I was getting better results without the reg.

I like to keep my fill pressure low, 2500psi and fill it with a 3200psi tank.
It seems more practical to me to get a tube extender and increase the volume by 30 percent.
This will increase the shot count and reduce the spread without having to adjust anything, or install something that is going to take up space inside the tube.
I can see where the regulator could be useful, as long as you can charge to a high pressure, and adjust your gun to shoot at a much lower pressure like he demonstrates.

Where do you get a tube extender for a Marauder?

Thanks Rick.

I just called him and talked to him a couple minuets.
He can't take credit cards, so you just mail him a check with your info.
Also the collar he sells to use in place of the barrel band is $22
When he mods a M-rod he ships the gun back with the barrel band removed.
He says they are more trouble then they are worth.

I just sent the regulator back for a full refund from Vincent. Hats off to him
As much as I post in this I need a twitter account. :)
