One of the bits of info that I saw before clicking the buy button on my AA PS was a video of one being fired with a pellet sitting on top of the wind age turret of a scope. The pellet stayed in place. The first thing I did with mine was try that test which I'm pleased to say it passed with the same results. So, is it safe to put one of my Leupold VX III scopes on without fear of destruction? I did see that Leupold has two specific models that they say are for Air Rifle use allowing for the unique recoil. I was hoping that my VX III might be safe due to the light recoil that this rifle seems to have. What say you?

Jim, use your Leupold scope without fear on your Pro Sport, All Leupy's are lifetime warrantied so if you should ever have a problem or failure of any kind they will fix or replace perhaps with no charge or possible with a nominal fee.The Air rifle specific scopes that Leupold sells actually have nothing to do with their toughness or ability to withstand two way recoil but rather they can be parralax adjusted to 10 yards. A fine crosshair or target dot Leupold scope wil help wring out the the most accuracy from your fine rifle.

Thank you Progun, your knowledge of these rifles is appreciated. For a springer the pellet staying in place on the turret when firing still amazes me. Regards

According to the Leupold people, while their scopes may not have been specifically designed for air rifle use, ALL should hold up to springer recoil. However, there are 2 EFR models that were specifically made for springer recoil demands. If you have a concern I would stick with those. However, with a lighter recoil rifle like you have, it is even less likely that you'll have trouble with the VX III on your AAPS!

Bookdoc, what a collection!!! You have covered quite a range, and are having a lot of fun. I only recently got back into air gunning, and decide to try one of the new gas piston guns. Shooting the benji NP made me realize how much fun shooting in my backyard can be so, I sold off one of my center fires (kept the Leupold), and put the funds into the AAPS.I'm also interest in the Hawke scopes which I see you have in your stable. Regards

Fun is the name of it for me...Hawke makes some great little scopes, and I use their mounts exclusively as I found what I think is the ultimate solution...Unexpensive, flexible, stable and adjustable!
-
Mr.Doc - I checked Hawke's site - are you using the one piece or 2 piece adjustable mounts?
-
Check out my post here to see pictures of what I use. It is actually a dovetail to weaver adapter and the configuration is not obvious from just looking at their site and mounts:

I can get it for you at a lower price than you likely will get it for off the Hawke site.

Looks like a really good setup. I'm on the verge of my next shooter, and had already decided on the Hawke 4x12 Airmax. I'll contact you in the next week or so.
Thanks
