WHat's the difference between the two?
My son plays paintball and lot of the paintball guns run on what they call HPA (high pressure air). Does anyone here know what makes that different from what airgunners call PCP?

HPA to me is a conversion from CO2 with a bottle + adapter vs. PCP comes from factory as such.

HPA is high pressure air, and a PCP is a gun that uses HPA to operate it.

So if I bought a PCP, I could get the tank and and have it filled at a local Paintball shop instead of trying to find a dive shop? Cool!

Normally HPA is 1800 PSI and lower,PCP usually start around 2500 to 4350.Just my thoughts :)PB shops normally fill the bottle to 3000 but then its usually regulated down to 1800 and below............

what is your normal gun fill pressure for pcp? i thought it was 3000

You can use HPA or Co2 in a marauder or disco. You have to dial the marauder down to 2000psi when using Co2.

my local paintball shot has a 4500 psi 3 tanks cascade setup with a 6000 psi compressor hooked up to that they fill my 88 cube CF 4500 tank for 2 bucks

Shady,MOST are 3k but some will take 4350,some customs are built for even more,I hear Mr. Q has built guns for 6K! :o

tanks some won't, you have to check your local ones. You will also need the adapter to fit their equipment. Most guys have a 44 or 88 cf carbon fiber tank (SCBA) or
a SCUBA tank. You will have to check around your city to see what the best deal is for filling either, every place is different. Some guys even fill at the local fire
station or a welding shop. Really not economical to fill a smaller tank (like a paintball tank) for our shooting as we will use up that amount of air rather quickly.

thanks for clearing that up i am building a custom pcp and i'm currently working out the pressure tube and fittings and i have to say finding a material that someone will admit to it holding over 3000 psi safely seems hard to find.
