I beleive that both are a great addition to a air rifle. Shroud's also protect the barrel and a brake can add some weight if needed and provide a good grip for cocking a break barrel. They look so mean on there hehe. 8) Ed

I agree with Ed, but if they could be used for their originally designed purpose( as a lead dust collector-lol), it would be better. The extra weight would probably help a Shadow, if you balanced it by weighting the stock.
Question, Gene. How do you drill the angled holes, keeping them indexed, without the bit walking off?

Hmm Ric I have thought about the same thing. At work I use a center drill for lathes chucked up in a hand drill. SmetimeI have to drill holes in pipe to mount brackets on and its a pain with a normal drill bit. What I do is center punch my hole and then make a starter holewith the center drill. Since the center drill is a lot beefier than a normal small diameter drill bit there isnt the flex/chance of walk. Once a decent hole is started its a cake walk.

Normally I use a center punch and a good quality drill bit.. That really makes all the world of difference... Also I will make a jig to hold the part I am drilling sometimes depending on what it is I am working on.. That way it does not move..:) Now that I have my Mill, there will never be any guess work and I can now safely drill at an angle up to 45 degrees with it also..

I think most of the factory brakes look cheesy, at least on the lower end guns. And the aftermarket brakes tend to be over priced. As crown protectors and cocking aids, I think they're worthwhile. My IZH 60 is seriously muzzle light, especially after I removed the front sight. One of these days I need to find someone to make a muzzle brake/weight for it. I've never dealt with any shrouded rifles, so have no opinion on those.

What you need on the IZH-60 Dave is an RPG launcher, then that gun would not only be muzzle heavy, it would be an awsome squirrel hunter also:)

I love baffled shrouds, makes for very quiet airguns which I love. When I look at my collection all have a baffled shroud, and most are shrouded from the factory, i.e. Venom Viper, Air Arms TX200, BSA Lightning and Lightning XL, Talon SS and some custom Crosman 600s with aftermarket Mac1 bafffled shrouded barrels. So those are the pros for me when it comes to noise reduction and no cons that I can think of, other than some of the baffled shrouded Air Arms and FX guns are a little longer than I would like. I generally prefer more carbine like guns.
Love the new board. Got really tired of the yellow forum many years ago. Too many rules, too many arguments, too many internet lawyers, etc. Everybody is an expert. I like the fact that you can have a discussion here with everyone voicing an opinion and no one acting as if there is only one accepted thought on any given idea.
